Do you like this story?

They won’t comply, but its still a good thing…right? Via Fox News:

The U.N. Security Council voted unanimously Saturday to impose economic sanctions on Iran for refusing to end a uranium enrichment program that the United States says is aimed at building nuclear weapons. Iran immediately rejected the resolution.

The result of two months of negotiation, the resolution orders all countries to stop supplying Iran with materials and technology that could contribute to its nuclear and missile programs. It also would freeze Iranian assets of key companies and individuals related to those programs.

And of course, the scariest threat ever, one that is sure to protect all our families from nuclear war:

If Iran refuses to comply, the resolution warns Iran that the council will adopt further nonmilitary sanctions.

“If you don’t obey, we’ll send a strongly worded letter asking you to do the same thing all over again.”

I definitely feel safer, don’t you?

Interestingly, we infidels agree with Iran on something:

The Iranian government immediately rejected the resolution, vowing in a statement from Tehran to continue enriching uranium and saying it “has not delegated its destiny to the invalid decisions of the U.N. Security Council.”

Neither have we, sweetie.

**Update: Allah has a great perspective on how useless these sanctions really will be, the State Department spin, along with a warm and fuzzy Christmas message from Ahmadinejad. He also links other opinions worth reading, so go check it out.

**Update: Sunday, 12/23, Iran says “bite me”:

Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, said the resolution made his country more “decisive in realizing our nuclear aims.” He said it would step up enrichment activities.
“From Sunday morning, we will begin activities at Natanz – the site of 3,000-centrifuge machines – and we will drive it with full speed. It will be our immediate response to the resolution,” Iran’s Kayhan newspaper quoted Larijani as saying. Source
