Actually, for those that work at it, native Americans live BETTER than they did before. Think about the times of hunger, wars and disease that killed hell out of The People before civilization. Good point about the acknowlgement and apologies too Ka_El, you're right about that too.

Marian my dear, think a little more deeply about what Beej has argued vis a vis when is a Muslim created?
Think about yourself and your circumstancesand ask yourself the question:
How might Islam interfere with my freedom?
For example if you're going into higher education what happens if you meet some "tasty"infidel chap who finds you equally tasty?(do you with a tinge of regret tell him that any association is impossible)
I'm speaking from experience! I had a brief love affair with a fellow female student whose parents were what you might call reasonable Muslims;but the poor lamb was infused with angst from the beginning
In the end we parted(she begged me to convert!);I considered that for a while but rejected it on the basis that
I would never believe in what I still believe is arrant nonsense(read my posts!)
Furthermore there would be an expectation that any future children would be brought up with an undeserved
theological burden.
I told her that if we were to marry then I was marrying her(and not her family!)
Subsequently she married a Muslim;but three years later they divorced;and I heard that she finally deserted Islam and married an infidel.(and as far as I know still ).
I wish you all the best with your career and would urge you to live a life of freedom unencumbered by the dead hand of Islam.

Why is everything that muslims do is considered criminal?! I may have been born Hindu or Catholic but wouldn't my parents then would also want me to know more about my religion?! wouldn't that also be considered as "a crime against a young mind" and i disagree that religion is brainwashing of the mind. generally speaking about all religions they teach a human being to be better in life. to know why we exist. what's the point in living and dying! does it stop here or what. how could have all of this existed there must be someone responsible for such a perfection in the universe. religion help us to be kind and humane towards other people yet fight for what believe in. i won't convince anyone to change their religion or to become a Muslim, everyone has beliefs! Religion isn't evil it is a ccomfort for our souls. when something bad happens to you , you know that they've happened for a reason , as a test to see your faith in your religion and God. you know one of the things i was planning to do was read the Bible and the Talmud because they are too religions of God. there's nothing wrong with religion or beliefs when you think about it what is the purpose of living?!
look, i can assure you that the Saudi Arabiansdo these things out of old traditional values in their country and soceity. why do you look only at one country , see the rest! Jordan for instance , where i come from there isn't a single woman that i know that have been opressed or been treated badly by a man. and in my point of view the world , once upon a time was fighting for the rights of women weren't they. all of the world had once had the thought that women weren't good enough and they founght for that and changed their cultural vies about women it seems to me that Saudi Arabia refuses to develope to that level . why? i honestly have no clue! there have been some bad treatments of women by men in Saudi Arabia i will not argue with that, but what about America as well? haven't ther got women abuse problem till this day? i'm telling you Arabs and Muslims are more than Saudi Arabians and Taliban

and Thank You!! I sure will kick ass =D

Think, Marian, and see the folly in what you wrote: "I was born Muslim." No you weren't. You were born innocent of all knowledge and beliefs, just like the rest of us. Had you been born next door, you might have been "born" Catholic or Hindu, or whatever. You were indoctrinated from infancy into Islam. You had no say in the matter. You have been moulded to conform to the beliefs of others. What a criminal thing to do to the young mind! Never be blind to the malleability of the infant mind. As the Jesuits used to say, "Give me the child until the age of six, and I will give you the man." Despite the fact that there exist people who come to religion in maturity, I will argue to my dying breath that the only reason religion thrives as it does is because of brainwashing of the innocents. It happened to me, too, although my parents were never hot gospellers, so the "lessons" (!!) I was taught never took deep root and I managed to escape religion's evil clutches and enter the realms of reason, free of fear of the fires of hell and, worse, the perfection of heaven. I can think of no greater debilitating baggage to carry through life than the suffocating burden of religion. It's not for me to tell you what to believe or disbelieve - I do not have that right - but I would implore you to think for yourself. It doesn't hurt! You might deem this to be neither here nor there, but, Newton aside, virtually all of the intellectual giants of the past few hundred years were atheists. I don't know about you, but I find that significant.

I cannot agree with you when you dismiss the foul practices of the Saudis and the Taliban and others as being the results of anything other than Islam. I am not, and never will be, even remotely expert in the Koran, but it seems that to a greater extent than the Bible it is open to a broad spectrum of interpretations. This might be due to its having been written in ancient Arabic. The Saudis and the Taliban interpret it in such a way that the results are horrendous. Now, there must be something a wee bit shonky, or worse, about such a text.

Good luck with your exams. Work your butt off and kick ass, as the Americans put it.

LOL, I know all about Islam. I am the founder, owner, operator and author of this blog. There are almost 5000 posts about Islam over 3 years. Again, do a little research.

"i think it is hard for anyone to leave the religion that his whole life has been based upon"
Actually no it isn't. There are thousands of apostates many of whom are living under threats for their life for leaving Islam.

Qur'an (4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them"

I encourage you to learn more about Apostasy under Islam. http://infidelsarecool.com/apostasy

I will follow your advice about educating myself and learning more about what is going on. But i do think that you should do the same and if you want to get more educated about Islam or lets say the Arab world just as an observer i suggest that you read things posted on other web sites that just this one. because here it may show the truth in some cases but that is not what Islam or the Arabs is all about. try googling some other webs you might find out that we are human after all.
as for leaving my religion i think it is hard for anyone to leave the religion that his whole life has been based upon since they were born. All of us are introduced to the world with our religion, we did not choose it but we were taught how to love it and trust in it. i always think to myself if i was born Christian will i convert to Islam but i guess i'll never know if i would . as for my parents i believe that any parent would be devestated to see their child convert to a different religion but they won't shoot me ! they will get upset and heart broken at first but i am sure that they love me and they want me to be happy . i may be as you say unexperienced and haven't explored the world and what potential it has just yet. but i still have time...lets hope i do
=]

Well i did not convert to Islam i was born Muslim. I will be taking driving lessons at 18 [that is the legal age o driving in my country] and i will recieve a car from my dad by then. now when you talk about Taliban and Saudi Arabia I think the way that they treat women that way would be more cultural wise and based on some weird traditions they have. that is not Islam i am sure of that. i have read the Quran and all the books that could help me explain what theQuran is talking about in details and that is not what Islam is about, what Saudi Arabia is doing is wrong but this is how they are used to living their lives. change in their country must come soon. and no i haven't been promised to marriage of an "old goat just yet =P I'm kiddin i told you i will fall in love and marry the man i want to marry. my dad won't force me to marry i guy i barely know and have an arranged marriage. this isn't how things work around here. as for my externals i'm sitting for the Edexcel Board so they have a January session Wish me luck!
