Makes you think a little bit. Especially for me, living in LA where probably 90% of the population is liberal. I walk down the streets of Westwood (west L.A) everyday with people giving out fliers on the street trying to recruit people to join in their fight against global warming. It’s in my workplace, it’s in the local news, it’s in the papers. My only safe haven for normalcy these days is either speaking with those close to me who share my same ideals, immersing myself in the conservative blogosphere, or listening to talk radio (which sometimes keeps me in my car unnecessarily long while I listen to the last segment of some conservative talk show) that keeps me grounded.
Those things give me fuel to hold on to what I have learned to protect so dearly. To hold on to the ideals that make sense to me. To hold onto the Judaeo-Christian values that I have grown to defend against tyrannical/oppressive cultures.
Living in a liberal society can take it’s toll sometimes. It’s tough dancing around conversation after conversation not wanting to offend your friend or colleague, but at the same time wanting to express where you stand on issues going on all over the world and in our own country.
What do you guys think?
Do you experience liberalism in the workplace?
Do you have global warming shoved down your throat everyday?
What keeps YOU grounded?
