If Good People Were Legally Armed, 32 Would Not Be Dead

Gun bill allowing students and teachers the right to bear arms gets shot down at V.Tech, January 2006

When you can do nothing to defend yourself,

When you can do nothing to defend your neighboor,

When you had the chance to stop this disturbed individual, but it was too difficult (or impossible) to obtain a weapon to defend yourself,

When you see people hiding in their dorms and classrooms with no hope of defense, and why?

Good, armed indivuduals could have made a difference.

I’m not suggesting there be guns allowed in dorms or in the classroom, and I’m not suggesting that there not be gun checks and balances on gun ownership, but policies should be put in place where good people CAN get a weapon legally for protection. I don’t know the gun laws in Virginia, but the bottom line is… someone should have been able to stop this guy. Someone should have been able to fight back. Someone should have done something with their legally registered weapon they were legally allowed to have. Many people’s lives could have been saved.

  • Let's see, a young Asian man in his 20's shoots up a school, the media has not given out his name yet.
    Hmmmmmm......

Now for those that say I'm jumping the gun, I am, but I have 8046 reasons too. That is the number of Islamic terror attacks since 9-11 (according too "Thereligionofpeace.com") I hope this mans name is either " Bill, or John" if it resembles anything like "Mohammed or Achmed" it's going too get ugly. Personally I believe it's going too get a whole lot worse, before it gets any better. Prayers too the students and the families. There is a special place in hades for this scumbag, who or what ever he is / was.

Guns are too easy to obtain at the moment. In fact, people are obtaining them and going on shooting spress.

And, the solution when someone uses guns to commit mass murder, is that there aren't enough guns. Bwilliant.

If someone is so worked up that they are willing to kill themselves to do something, what makes you think that they will stop because everyone is armed like Rambo? They won't. They've aren't making their decision based on how much resistance they will face.

"Guns are too easy to obtain at the moment. In fact, people are obtaining them and going on shooting spress. "

Their accessibity isn't what makes people go on shooting sprees. If someone wants to go on a shooting rampage, they'll find the weapons no matter how limited access is.

"And, the solution when someone uses guns to commit mass murder, is that there aren’t enough guns. Bwilliant. "

Actually, it's correct. If even a few people there besides the gunman had been armed, he would have been shot down. Spree killers generally aren't rationale enough to duck when someone is shooting back. In fact, his goal might have been to die being shot.

"If someone is so worked up that they are willing to kill themselves to do something, what makes you think that they will stop because everyone is armed like Rambo? They won’t. They’ve aren’t making their decision based on how much resistance they will face."

Exaggeration is the first recourse of fools. Everyone wouldn't have to be armed like Rambo. It would be enough for a percentage of the people there to have a decent defence and be able to shoot him down when he is rampaging.

People like Walter Sear feel that there's not ENOUGH gun control, and yet this happens in places with strict gun control too. I suspect most people who are for gun control are simply afraid of them.

What I do not understand is the the report a classroom full of able bodied college students allowing themselves to be stood up against a wall and shot, execution style one by one without ganging up on him. Better a couple or three get shot than the entire group.

if you make a law making it illegal to have a gun... the only people with guns will be those that are willing to break the law. period. is that what you want walter? i hate the idiots in this country that are pro-gun control. i mean sure kids, ex-cons and crazys shouldnt be allowed to carry... but there should be little to no restrictions beyond that.

there's a reason its the second amendment to the constitution... right after freedom of speech. these two things in my opinion truly define the united states of america, and i will never support anything that opposes them.

i own a gun and have a conceal carry permit, and its for reasons like this story that i do. its too bad i wasnt on that campus, cause i probably would have ignored the rules and had my gun with me.

"i'd rather be caught with it than caught without one; so leave it alone, because the life that it saves might be your own."
