preparing for war ….
US trains Gulf air forces for war with Iran
By Tim Shipman in Washington
Last Updated: 12:21am BST 30/09/2007The American air force is working with military leaders from the Gulf to train and prepare Arab air forces for a possible war with Iran, The Sunday Telegraph can reveal.
An air warfare conference in Washington last week was told how American air chiefs have helped to co-ordinate intelligence-sharing with Gulf Arab nations and organise combined exercises designed to make it easier to fight together.
Gen Michael Mosley, the US Air Force chief of staff, used the conference to seek closer links with allies whose support America might need if President George W Bush chooses to bomb Iran.
Pentagon air chiefs have helped set up an air warfare centre in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where Gulf nations are training their fighter pilots and America has big bases. It is modelled on the US Air Force warfare centre at Nellis air force base in Nevada.
Jordan and the UAE have both taken part in combined exercises designed to make sure their air forces can fly, and fight, together and with American jets.
The conference was long-planned to discuss developments in air warfare technology, but the question of possible hostilities involving Iran was discussed.
Bruce Lemkin, the American air force deputy under-secretary for international affairs, said: “We need friends and partners with the capabilities to take care of their own security and stability in their regions and, through the relationship, the inter-operability and the will to join us in coalitions when appropriate…
“On its most basic level, it’s about flying together, operating together and training together so, if we have to, we can fight together.”
While it is unlikely that America’s Gulf allies would join any US air strike against suspected nuclear targets in Iran, their co-operation might be required to allow passage of warplanes though their airspace. American defence officials are also keen that Iran’s Arab neighbours prepare to deal with any Iranian attempt to target them in return.
Lt Gen Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, who is special assistant to the chief of staff of the Jordanian armed forces, said “concern at Iran’s attempt to establish itself as a regional superpower” had led to greater co-operation, “not just at the inter-service level but also at the political level”.
He said the new air warfare centre had allowed them to “exchange information and exercise together”.
But Air Chief Marshal Sir Glen Torpy, the head of the RAF, voiced the fear of many British officials that America is too devoted to military solutions. He said: “In an environment like this, we always focus on the part that the military can play in solving security and foreign policy problems, but the military will rarely, if ever, be the solution.”

From an officer who’s in Iraq now and many of the soldiers serving with him, you are no better than Vietnam Veterans Against the War, undermining the war effort and giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
Not everything goes according to planned in war, but there are more successes here than failures. Maybe things have changed since you left. Be that as it may, you took the comments by Rush Limbaugh completely out of context. If you had listened to the feed or read the transcript, you would know he was referring to “CPL MacBeth” and others like him who pretend to have served but never left boot camp, and certainly never served in Iraq.
I signed up after 9-11 at age 30 with my education completed and volunteered to come over on this Embedded Provincial Reconstruction Team mission, despite having 3 children, my son only 21 old months before I left.
Mistakes notwithstanding, you are clueless concerning the importance of this war and the implications of withdrawal. You are also clueless concerning the threat from Iran, and your posture endangers the future of my children. What would your philosophy have been in WWII against the Nazis and Japanese, with 400,000+ dead and many more wounded?
You should all be ashamed of yourselves, especially if you’re on the take, i.e. how much is George Soros paying you? My wife is a Navy veteran of 10 years, enlisted, and she’s equally disgusted with you. Here’s to your failure as “real soldiers” but lacking Army values. L’chaim.

The West continues to ignore this evil Islamic theocracy. When will the world awaken to evil?
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Iran’s parliament on Saturday approved a nonbinding resolution labeling the CIA and the U.S. Army “terrorist organizations,” in apparent response to a Senate resolution seeking to give a similar designation to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Caroline Glick writes about Iran’s overlooked message
[T]here is a reason that the West ignores the dangers facing it. The Western media ignored Ahmadinejad’s message, just as it has insistently ignored the messages of bin Laden and Fatah throughout the years, because Westerners have a hard time believing that anyone would want to abide by the Islamic world view which denies mankind’s desire for freedom.

WASHINGTON — U.S.-led forces have killed one of the most important leaders of Al Qaeda in Iraq, a Tunisian believed connected to the kidnapping and killings last summer of American soldiers, a top commander said Friday.Brig. Gen. Joseph Anderson said the death of the terrorist in a U.S. airstrike Tuesday south of Baghdad, and recent similar operations against Al Qaeda, have left the organization in Iraq fractured.
“Abu Usama al-Tunisi was one of the most senior leaders … the emir of foreign terrorists in Iraq and part of the inner leadership circle,” Anderson said.

Many are awakening to the Islamic threat in Europe
Critic of Islam, Ehsan Jami, and Freedom Party leader, Geert Wilders, compared the Prophet Mohammed to Adolf Hitler in a co-written article published in the Dutch daily Volkskrant Thursday.
In their article, Wilders and Jami say strong criticism of Islam is absolutely necessary.
“If we do not act now against the far-reaching Islamisation of the Netherlands, then the 1930s will be revived. The only difference is that back then the danger came from Adolf Hitler, while today it comes from Mohammed”
In August, Jami was given personal security after being attacked for the third time, allegedly by Muslim fundamentalists. Labour remained largely silent following the incidents, but the Liberal VVD and the liberal-rightist PVV party both gathered around Jami.
Geert Wilders leads the liberal-rightist Freedom Party (PVV). He has argued in favour of prohibiting the Koran, referring to it as a book that incites violence.

Outrageous. I guess “culture” only exists in the Muslim world. More multi-cultural, pacifistic appeasement from the far-left.

Vancouver’s hookah-parlour owners are celebrating after winning an exemption Thursday from a proposed new bylaw that will ban smoking on most sidewalks in commercial districts, in bus shelters and even in taxis passing through Vancouver.
In giving the bylaw unanimous approval-in-principle, Vancouver city council members bowed to arguments that hookah lounges provide an important cultural space for the city’s Muslims and granted them a temporary exemption…
[Emad Yacoub] said hookah lounges are essential for immigrants from hookah-smoking cultures, because it helps them deal with the depression common for newcomers and gives them places like they have at home.
