Brighid, are you fricken serious?

Bush and Cheney shut down all the lefty blogs? Proof? names? anything? Your discrediting yourself rather quickly here. That's the funniest thing I've heard all day. You sound like either a truther, far-leftist, or Islamic radical, I can't tell...And you don't think they serve in the military? I recall one or two out of the group that don't actually serve, but they are directly affiliated through their husband or, happen to be former veteran themselves, and yes in fact, the rest do serve and are active duty and currently deployed. you're argument, just like most liberals, doesn't make any sense.

Keyboard commandos for Bush? Wow, go back to your Kos family. I really hope you don't represent Iraqslogger, cause that would be shameful considering you charge $80 bucks a month just to let readers see your articles. HA! good luck getting subscribers!

Infidelesto, come on. There are plenty of mil-bloggers who tried to blog straight from the Middle East where they are serving in the military. But, Bush and Cheney didn't like what they had to say, so they shut down their blogs. So, Bush assembled and awed the poseurs who won't serve in the military but who love the war, so they call themselves "milblogs." It's disingenuous, since they're really just sycophants who will parrot whatever Bush says about the military, since they don't serve in it, and haven't a clue about it. They are 'keyboard commandoes for Bush' not 'milbloggers'.

No where have I equated "milblogger" with "conservative" blogger. I am well aware of who the people are who visited the Whitehouse, it's very clear, from all the coverage, who was there. And when did I ever "assume they are all conservative"? Just because I blogged about doesn't mean anything but the fact that I was intrigued that Bush is actually meeting with bloggers for the first time.

Oh and please enlighten me on the "left-wing" milblogs you are speaking of. You may find some democrat milblogggers but I doubt you will find any hard-line left-wing milbloggers since the mission in the middle east seems to be a failed and unjust mission according to them.

You coment as if "milblogger"is interchangeable with "conservative blogger" " The White House was visited by an Iraq vet, the wife of a guy currently serving in Iraq, a citizen of Baghdad, four other veterans (one of which is on the advisory committee to a Democrat Representative) and one American civilian and two milbloggers embedded in Iraq. Read their questions given to the President before you assume they are all conservative. Their are quite a few "left-wing" milblogs and even they believe in victory.

"Will Bush meet with left wing bloggers?"

Sure if there were actually some left-wing Mil-bloggers out there. To my knowledge there aren't any that are significant.

This meeting was with Mil-bloggers only, not just any blogger, so find some left wing mil-bloggers and I'm sure he would.

I agree, Debbie. National security should be the number one priority of the Federal government. Other than that, stay out of our lives!

What really is the federal government's responsibility?

We've talked before about the role of government, personal responsibility, and the nanny state. Karl at Learning Straight Up has a nice article, "The role of Government is to protect." I agree with him completely. Beyond securing our borders and
