The case for attacking Iran

Do you like this story?

I’ve been browsing the web today and I keep seeing so many leftist blogs who are scared to death about attacking Iran. These people are outright depressed and angered at the possibility of an attack on Iran. It all stems from Bush’s aggression of course. There couldn’t possibly be another reason.

They have NO CLUE why we would attack Iran. They honestly believe that Bush is doing it for his own warmongering reasons. These elitists acts like they know so much about war and history but are completely incapable of paying attention to anything but their own dreamy existence. They act like Iran has done NOTHING to warrant an attack on themselves.

Take this comment from ReluctantRealist’s post , “Bush is going into Iran, let the world be damned

I hope you realize that if we attack Iran we will be going it alone. No “Collation of the Willing” and not even the pretense of UN support. We will be attacking a soveriegn country that after 9/11 not only helped us with intelligence but was willing to work with us to normalize relations.

Are we really going to, once again, uncritically believe this administrations claims of clear and present danger without hard evidence?

We will be preempively attacking a country, again, and for the life of me I do not know what we expect to be the outcome. Do you really think, due to the shortage of manpower, that a air campaign alone will accomplish much? Short of a tatical nuclear strike I don’t.

You referenced world War II in your reply and I have to ask… If we invade yet another country that does not consitute a present threat to us are we not acting more like Germany then anything else?

to which I replied…

You’re saying Iran “helped us with intelligence”? Not to disrespect your intelligence, but WTF?

They have NEVER done such a thing.

You’re also saying they want to “normalize relations”? again….WTF?

do you realize what you’re saying?
How much more blind and naive do you have to be?

They HATE us, plain and simple. Haven’t you ever heard the Ayatollah’s famous “Death to America” chants?

What do you think “Death to Israel, Death to America” mean? How do you interpret that? You don’t see that as a threat if you know these people are very close to aquiring Nukes? CMON!!

Ahmadinijad denies the holocaust (obviously never seen the pics), and has threatened on MULTIPLE occasions to wipe Israel off the map.

Trust me our Air attack will decimate them plenty enough to set them back 10 years or more. We have the most powerful weapons/military the world has ever seen! We will be fine. No one is talking about a ground invasion, that would be impossible, and we don’t have the manpower. But we do have the power to destroy their infrastructure and that’s what we’re going to do.

To answer your question about us acting like Germany…Answer: No, we are not invading them and taking over like Germany did to many countries. We are attacking with the intent on setting them back from getting a Nuclear Weapon.

Don’t be so afraid to DO WHAT IS RIGHT. Not only defend the US and Israel, but to defend the ENTIRE REGION from the aggressive Islamic sharia Regime hellbent on getting a Nuclear Weapon that they can use to threaten Israel and the rest of the world.

Please think Clearly!!! We are all on the same side here.

Let’s not forget why Iran is well deserving of the Western world preventing them from getting nukes.

We are going to attack Iran. It is a given. I am not a lone voice in thinking it is a mistake though. My attitude might be different if I believed there was any chance that this administration will not bungle it.

If it is to be done there is one very important things that I hope the American government keeps in mind:

Targeting their nuclear facilities is a secondary goal. Destabilizing the regime that has pursued nukes and supported terrorism is the primary one. Any organization with the word “revolutionary” in its name is to be rendered into dust. Drop huge numbers of arms, ammo, flack jackets and helmets in areas where abused minorities are angry. Governing clerics are high value targets of legitimate military worth as are any mosque that is used for military purposes such as ammo or weapon storage. Ignoring this advice will result in far more death and destruction than would otherwise be the case.
