*update*
She didn’t make it. It seems honor has been restored to the family. Thanks be to Allah for his glorious justice.
The savagery of Islam once again put on display, and nothing from CAIR, nothing from the American Muslim Council, nothing from the ACLU, nothing from the MSM, nothing from the so-called moderates of Islam who see an obvious trend of honor killings in the West and do nothing but hide in the shadows claiming victimhood everytime someone critices them for being silent.
I don’t know what’s worse: quiet moderate Muslims or the perpetrators themselves.
Islam: the religion of tolerance and understanding
A 16-year-old girl is in critical condition after being choked by a man believed to be her father, apparently after a dispute with her family over her refusal to wear the hijab, the Islamic headscarf worn by some Muslim women.

It is awful that this young woman has died at her father’s hands. I pray that the courts in Toronto pursue this murder vigorously, and that her father — and her brother, who is charged with obstructing police — are convicted and punished to the full extent of the law.
Murdering our women under the guise of family “honor” is not our custom here in North America.

Comment by ERS on 11 December 2007:
Some of the reports about this crime are concealing that it has its roots in honor. I hope this misguided sense of political correctness doesn’t hinder investigation and prosecution and the development of any needed programs to prevent future such incidents.

“quiet moderate Muslims or the perpetrators themselves”.
All the same.

this is not a muslim issue… honor kilings are not in the islam religion. honor killings are a cultural thing and it is about family honor and just a different view of things. Granted, it is a horrible thing and it is sad, but dont be mistaken, many of the people who do this happen to be muslim but it is not something that is done in the name of the religion.
Comment by hayley on 30 April 2008:
these honour killings have nothing to do with the islam religion whatsoever.
it is a cultrual thing which people in those countries practice.
do not bring the islam religion into this when they have done nothing to provoke it.
Comment by Durgesh on 19 May 2008:
They are Satans themselves.
Comment by jen tha rednek on 19 May 2008:
Honor in Islam and Muslim countries does not have the same definition as honor in the United States or UK. Reason…the knighthood and chivalry legacy given to us by the good God fearin Christians. Feudal kings and knights believed in protecting the women and children of their kingdoms, not throwing them into the line of fire. Surely not strappin a remote control bomb onto an 8 year old girl, that is the Devil’s work.
Comment by Philip Saenz on 2 July 2008:
Honor killing is 100% Islam. That poor girl became a “disbeliever” when she stopped wearing an ugly Muslim rag. So Islam had to murder her. “Kill the disbeliever wherever you find them,” (Sura 2 Verse 191). Hence: An honor killing.
