Yes, another one, folks.

This time a Dad sets fire to his pregnant daughter’s home killing her, her unborn grandchild, her husband and their 3 year old son.

A suburban Chicago man is accused of setting an apartment fire — killing his pregnant daughter, her husband and their young child — because the son-in-law didn’t ask permission for the marriage, prosecutors said.

It took firefighters three hours to extinguish the blaze, which gutted the 36-unit Le Claire Station Apartments.

Subhash Chander, 57, of Oak Forest, Illinois, was ordered held without bond Tuesday on three counts of first-degree murder, one count of intentional homicide of an unborn child and one count of aggravated arson.

Prosecutors allege Chander used gasoline to start the fire late Saturday. The India native told police he disliked his son-in-law because he belonged to a lower caste and had married his daughter without his consent, said Cook County First Assistant State’s Attorney Robert Milan.

“His son-in-law was beneath him in his opinion,” Milan said.

I think the important word used in this subject is “ANCIENT” tradition. We are supposed to be in a more civilized time frame. I am stunned that even in this day and age, someone would actually defend such and “ancient” tradition, because someone is beneath someone else it is ok to murder them and the entire family. This is not a tradition I could hold too tightly too when everyone says they want peace to live free. This does not mean giving someone the freedom to kill someone else for any purpose tradition or honor.

This type of crime is most hienous and depraved in the history of mankind. However, honor killings are a part of ant patriarchal society and are not just limited to Islamic societies around th weorld. I don’t think its fair to hold Islam as a religion itself to be the sole perpetrator of such act. The verses from the holy scriptures are taken out of context and are somehow mutated and molded to provide a religious reason to the continue the male dominated treatment of the women. If the verses are looked at in context and in greater detail, Islam elevates women to higher status than men and honor killings are prohibited in Islam. These crimes are type of extremist promotion of patriarchal principles under the guise of religion.

Well he had justification apparently, i think that verse makes it quite clear to that man.

It would be interesting to know what mohummad would have done, if someone married one of his many daughters without permission.
Perhaps another verse would have been revealed shortly afterwards.

Spreading mischief in the land can be ANYTHING a Muslim wants it to be.

Also honor killings are part of Islamic culture, so you can go to the Middle East and explain to them that they have got is all wrong. Let me know how you make out.
