Thank goodness there is some sense of clarity on this issue.  I’m tired of hearing libtoids whine about waterboarding.  It sickens me to think that a Liberal moron would NOT waterboard if an Islamic terror attack was imminen.  Better to have thousands of Americans dead than 1 slimy terrorist scum not get waterboarded? Cmon…

WASHINGTON (AFP) — The United States may use waterboarding to question terrorism suspects in the future, the White House said Wednesday, rejecting the widely held belief that the harsh practice amounts to torture.

“It will depend upon circumstances,” spokesman Tony Fratto said. “The belief that an attack might be imminent, that could be a circumstance that you would definitely want to consider.”

“The president will listen to the considered judgment of the professionals in the intelligence community and the judgment of the attorney general in terms of the legal consequences of employing a particular technique,” he said.

Why should we torture people over such a trivial threat as Islamic terrorism? Have you ever actually put September 11th in perspective? In 2001, 3000 people were killed by Al-Qaeda. That’s not even as many people as died from peptic ulcer! (3600, CDC statistics). Honestly, that’s pathetic! There should be more money fighting peptic ulcer right now than Islamic terror. And how about the real heavy hitters, like pneumonia: 58,000 Americans dead in one year. That’s right: over 15 times as many people as were killed by Al-Qaeda, and you know what else? Pneumonia kills that many Americans EVERY SINGLE YEAR. That’s as many people as 15 September 11ths every year. Al-Qaeda only wishes they could reach those heights, but in your mind, they have. They’ve accomplished their goal, which is to scare shitless the citizens of the mightiest civilization the world has ever known, and all without even killing as many people as gallstones (3080 deaths, also every year). So when it comes time to torture an enemy, let’s at least make sure he’s at least as dangerous as a peptic ulcer.
