Do you like this story?
TweetSo what did you mean exactly when you said that when small town people, when bitter, cling to Guns, religion, racism and bigotry?
Just to remind everyone, here’s what he said a few days ago to a closed door crowd of liberals in San Francisco:
But the truth is, is that, our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when there’s not evidence of that in their daily lives. You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them.
And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
How do you rephrase that?
Obama, too often, tries to “uhh” and “umm” his way through questions where he doesn’t know what to say and tries to think of the most PC thing to say at the moment, and when he says something that was obviously thought out, he blames conservatives and the media for “taking his words out of context”.
Are people EVER held accountable for their words? EVER? He may as well have said,
“Those small town folk are a bunch of typical gun-lovin, racist, religious fundamentalists who are bitter because their government won’t give them more handouts”
He could have said that and still would have claimed, “you took me out of context”…
I guess words don’t mean much anymore…
