Poll: Majority of Indonesians support establishing Islamic law

Good news out of “moderate” muslim country Indonesia… If you are for islamic law, against free thought, creativity, and liberty, that is.

JAKARTA, Indonesia: A majority of Indonesians support establishing Islamic law, but fewer than half want measures such as cutting off the hands of thieves or forcing women to wear traditional Islamic dress, according to a national survey.

Australian polling agency Roy Morgan Research said Tuesday about 52 percent of people questioned between July 2007 and March 2008 favored introducing some form of Islamic law, or Shariah, in their areas.

While most of Indonesia’s 200 million Muslims practice a tolerant form of the faith, some groups want to chip away at the sprawling archipelago’s secular traditions and reshape it in the image of orthodox Middle Eastern countries.

Shariah, based on the Quran and the life and teachings of the Prophet Mohammed, takes several different forms in Muslim countries. It is used mostly as a system of family law in countries such as Egypt and Malaysia, while it governs all aspects of life in Saudi Arabia and Iran, which require head-to-toe clothing for women and chopping off the hands of thieves.

The Indonesia survey did not give the 8,000 participants a definition of Shariah, but follow-up questions sought their opinions about practices in conservative Islamic countries in the Middle East.

When asked if women should have to wear a headscarf, 45 percent of Indonesians answered “yes,” while 40 percent said they want thieves to have a hand removed as punishment. Just under a quarter said women should stay at home.

Practicing Indonesian Muslims generally believe their lives should be guided by their faith, but the survey showed some were unaware of the practical implications of strict Islamic law, said pollster Ira Soekirman.

“A lot of people think the idea is very good, but when you start talking of every day implications, the number dropped,” she said.

Gee, the number dropped? No shit? Indonesians don’t want to be stoned for suspicion of adultery, hanged for being homosexual, or killed for apostacy if they clear their heads and leave islam? Who’d have thought that!?

Sharia law is mostly directed toward the activities of women. The Moslim men are so afraid of their women and their own sexual cravings that laws were created to control women. Of course they had to add other things, like the cutting off of hands (you know that is not only for theives but infidels also) in the name of righteousness (?). This cowardice toward women can be seen in the act of circumcision. They claim Abraham as their father but when the pact of circumsision came into being it was not the females that had to endure this but the males -- now we see the brave men of Islam preforming this on women, not men. The way I wee it, the women are in a covenant relationship with God (Allah) and the men are not, they are the lost, of the tribe of Satan. The muslim women are then placed above the men. Peace to you all in our Savior's name, YaHshua

Sharia law also means second class citizenship and humiliation for non-Muslim Citizens. Christians must humbly pay a tax called jizia or face the consequences, and Christians must give up their tables at restraints, and Christians must walk on the opposite side of the street from Muslims, and Christians are not permitted to build new churches or perform significant repairs to their existing churches, and Christian women (and their husbands) have little legal recourse if they are raped by a Muslim man, and Christians must be very careful if they complain about anything to the Islamic government.

Under Sharia, all men are not created equal (Muslim men are more equal), and no one is endowed with the inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (except for members and friends of the Islamic Government).
  • So the Indonesians want Islamic Law. What does this mean? It means that brainless Muslims crave evil. Islamic Law means stoning women to death, hanging homosexuals, genital mutilations of little girls, allowing old Muslim lechers to rape little girls after forcing them into "marriage" at the age of eight and nine, chopping off limbs, hands, feet, of petty thieves, lashing buttocks, legs and backs with canes until bloody red, polygamy, second class citizenship for women. Yes, Muslims want lots of evil and sadism. You can expect brainless people to crave evil.
