Saudi wife arrested after going for an illegal drive

Women’s rights on full display in the birthplace of islam.

A woman has been arrested for breaking Saudi Arabia’s ban on female drivers.

She was stopped by a police patrol after driving six miles to collect her husband near their home in the town of Buraida.

As her ‘legal guardian’ he had to sign a declaration that he would not let his wife drive again.

It is not yet known if she has been released or if she faces legal action.

Saudi Arabia is the only country that forbids women from driving.

The ban is based on religious rulings from clerics who say it is un-Islamic.

Civil rights activists in the country have begun lobbying the government to lift the ban.

Her legal guardian had to sign a promise to not let her drive again. Wow. And muslim women actually want to live like this. Brings mental defective to a new level.

    Didn’t the Saudis make a big show recently about how they were going to allow women to drive? Did the law not get passed or was the whole thing a hoax?

    “JEDDAH: Police arrested a 20-year-old woman after the car she was driving in was involved in several accidents. The car belonged to the woman’s male friend, who had asked her to wait in the car while he sat an exam. The youth had left the keys in to keep the air-conditioning on. Due to her inability to operate the vehicle properly, the young woman crashed the car several times. A member of the public informed the police. She was arrested. Her male friend was also held for being in “khulwa” (a state of seclusion) with the woman. Police were, however, kind enough to allow youngster to sit his exams.”

    She’s in a whole lot more trouble than for just driving!

    Women will never be allowed to drive, here, SW. It just isn’t going to happen.

    We in Europe used to burn women at the bonfire for being a witch. But thats 1500 years ago. We have evolved. Saudi Arabia haven’t. They still whip and behead women for witchcraft, and they do it not for religion, but for entertainment. They know very well that there is no such thing as black magic or witchcraft, but they actually enjoy seeing a woman suffer.

    You’ve struck the crux of the matter Gambit.  Where the west has evolved and dragged itself out of the bondage of barbarism and Church control….islam never has…and probaly never will without a complete and thorough revision….which, of course, is forbidden by the koranus and carries a death penalty.
