1,215 victims of evil, lying Mister Boosh’s war re-enlisted at Saddam’s Al-Faw Palace in Baqubah, Iraq yesterday, on Independence day, to remain victims in their own right.

Actually NOT.

1,215 of our bravest showed America on July 4th that they are committed to defending their country and committed to finishing the job they were assigned in March 2003.  Of course, things are looking good these days.  The Iraqi gov’t has met 15 of 18 benchmarks set, Al Qaeda is broken and on the run, Iraqi provinces are rebuilding, growing and starting over with the opportunity for a normal life living in a land of freedom and democracy and are showing the world that it IS possible to defeat evil and start anew.

This will give you goosebumbs, watch this video:

BAQUBAH, Iraq – It was the second July Fourth in Iraq for Staff Sergeant Edgar Covarrubias. No family barbecue and no fireworks, but Covarrubias said he would call his mother, wife, and children to share the day anyway.

Across Iraq, Independence Day was a typical workday for most US troops. But the military threw in a taste of home at larger bases with ribs, corn on the cob, and red-white-and-blue cakes.

For some service members, the day was a reminder of their duty to their country.

At Camp Victory outside Baghdad, 1,215 troops from the Army, Marines, and other services reenlisted in a mass swearing-in ceremony led by General David Petraeus, the top war commander.

At least two husband-and-wife couples were among those signing up for another military stint.

In front of an immense American flag hung in the rotunda of the palace headquarters of the US military in Iraq, the troops saluted Petraeus, then sang “God Bless America.”
