We’ve lost a great man today.  A man who I’ve watched and listened to for a very long time both on TV and radio. God bless him and his family…

Seems like we’ve lost a lot of conservatives this year: Tony Snow, Charlton Heston, Frank O’Connell, Jesse Helms, E. Victor Milione, Robert Jastrow, and, of course, WFB.

WASHINGTON, July 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Former Speaker of the House and Founder of the Center for Health Transformation, Newt Gingrich, issued the following statement upon hearing of the passing of Tony Snow:

“With the passing of Tony Snow, America lost a great citizen, a loving father, and a very talented journalist.

“Tony was at the peak of his ability to write and speak. His knowledge of politics and government had been greatly expanded by his service as the President’s chief spokesman.

“Here at the Center for Health Transformation we will especially miss Tony because he had just begun preparations to co-chair with Geraldine Ferraro a bipartisan effort to implement a new program called Eliminate Cancer as a Cause of Death and Suffering.

“Tony had known he was vulnerable to cancer since he lost his own mother to cancer at seven. He had taken every precaution with early screening and immediate interventions. He knew cancer was a tough opponent and he wanted to spare the next generation the pain and the difficulties with which he had lived.

“As Nancy Desmond, President and CEO of the Center for Health Transformation, said at the time Tony joined the Center, “With Tony Snow’s understanding of the public policy process and the credibility he bring due to his own battle with cancer, we believe he and Geraldine Ferraro will decisively improve cancer policy for all Americans.”

Today, Nancy Desmond remarked, “Tony never gave up on beating cancer, and we never will at the Center. We will go on with the project that Tony and Geraldine Ferraro started with us at the Center.”

“Tony was on the verge of fulfilling his dreams. Enjoy life with his family. Continue to be a great citizen. Lead a great public cause for the good of people everywhere. Look forward to the years with his grandchildren.

“His loss is our loss.”

“The thoughts and prayers of me, Callista, and the Center for Health Transformation family go out to Jill and the children as they mourn the passing of a great citizen and a loving husband and father.”

I most certainly will miss him. He was a happy, upbeat guy who saw the truth and wouldn't let people bullsh*t him.
