Mixed company private party in Iran? That’s a fatwa!

Shiraz, 17 July (AKI) – About 70 young Iranians were arrested on the outskirts of the city of Shiraz on Wednesday night at a private birthday party.

They are being accused of “participating in a promiscuous party,” and “alcohol consumption”.

Police raided the villa where the party was being held and arrested everyone who did not manage to flee.

Reportedly, many of the arrested youth showed signs of bruising when they appeared in court, said Iran Press News.

In Iran, any contact with a member of the opposite sex who is not a family relation, is considered a crime, as well as the consumption of alcohol which is punished by public flogging.

Not surprising in the least bit. What is surprising is how many Americans will still call Iran a democracy (including some of our politicians). The religious police routinely harass people with "western style" appearances, homosexuals (who supposedly don't exist in Iran according to Ahmadinejad), and anybody else they feel like rounding up and beating.

I conducted an interview with an Iranian blogger a few months back. He appears to have drunk the Kool-Aid too and just can't grasp the concept of free speech. I do not advocate war with Iran over the nuclear issue, I'm preasonably confident it can be solved without force. But I also do not advocate trying to get these people to like us. It ain't gonna happen.

Excellent!  This is just the thing to accelerate the downfall of the mullanazis and the islamafreaks that are infesting Iran and making the lives of real people a living hell.  Those ass wipes just keep on stepping on their own peepees!
