Obama: Don't worry about learning English, learn Spanish instead

Do you like this story?

He nails it on the head when he slips in, “they’ll [Immigrants] learn English” very quickly.

Really Obama? You’re assuming they’ll learn English? Why and how would you know that?

The elitism just bleeds from his soul as he speaks.  He has obviously not been to an immigrant community.  I know people who have been here a majority of their lifetime and have NEVER learned English.

Wanna know what it means to be an American?

Theodore Roosevelt said it best:

Theodore Roosevelt on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN

“In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile…We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language…and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Hell, why not learn both languages well, i.e., Spanish and English? I speak, write and read four common languages, and a bit of Latin. What’s wrong with that ? Of course I’m an American patriot 100%,  and Catholic, a follower of Jesus Christ, 100%. I don’t see anything wrong with that either.  If you want to think differently, it’s okay by me so long as you are peaceful. I’m very peaceful unless attacked. Have a nice day.

Philip, no one is saying we shouldn’t learn Spanish or be bilingual.  I speak a lot of Spanish myself in fact.  I think it’s a good idea to learn another language, of course…The point is that Obama thinks that all immigrants will naturally learn English when they come to America, therefore making it the law to make English the one and only language learn English is pointless.  That’s totally false

It’ is just another display of putting the world first and America second.  This kind of attitude is all too common with the the liberal mindset.  I think, in order to become an American citizen, you absolutely must learn English, but when it’s not recognized, people come to America and NEVER learn the language and do just fine.  There are communites all over this country that don’t speak a lick of English.  Just go to Phoenix, or San Diego, LA, San Francisco, Florida, NY. Pretty much every major city has immigrant communites that don’t speak a word of English.

Hell, you don’t have to go to a major city to find that Infidelesto, I live in a town of less than 50,000 people and there is a large Hispanic population here, not a stitch of English to be heard among them.  The town I grew up in, population of less than 2,000 was overrun by Mexicans wanting to work in the cotton fields every spring and they would stay until harvest, go back to Mexico and chill til next time. Now they stay and for every 40 Mexicans, 1 speaks broken English.
I heard that a few UN representatives out of France, Denmark and Spain were bitchin about English being the official language of the UN meetings. Do they not realize if not for Americans, they’d all speak German?!?!

I know it is out of left field on my part, but doesn’t that B Hussein Obama thumbnail kind of look like The Rock when he poses for the millions, AND MILLIONS, of Rock’s fans, while they’re chanting The Rock’s name? :D

Since I live in Arizona which is a border state and has large amount of Spanish speaking residents (illegal ones included),  I thought it would be proper and helpful, at first, to start learning the  Spanish language.  However, the more and more I thought about it, I had to ask myself, WHY??  Why do I have to learn the language of Mexicans immigrating into my homeland?  Why do I need to speak Spanish for people who enter the U.S. illegally?
I now refuse to learn to speak Spanish.  It is not my concern to make the lives of Mexicans here in the U.S. more comfortable and easier by learning Spanish because they don’t think they should have the responsibilty to learn English now that they live in the U.S.

Will it be a handicap for me not to understand so many people speaking Spanish?  Not at all.  In fact, if a non-English speaking Mexican who lives in the U.S. needs me to understand him/her to do business or whatever, that’s actually his/her loss and problem….not mine.  It’s his/her loss if they need help or want my business in their store etc.  I can go elsewhere.

I surely can learn other foreign languages.  I think I may learn to speak Japanese just out of of respect because at least Japanese immigrants to the U.S. learn to speak English as well as is should be said for most immigrants of other countries.
This is why these immigrants don’t expect us to have Japanese, Chinese, German, Arabic, Russian etc, etc translations everywhere like Mexicans expect we should have everything translated in Spanish just for them as if they are extra special.

Latino-Americans speak English.  Others don’t.  I have no desire whatever to accommodate illegals or tourists so I feel no need to learn more spalglish than I already know.  I don’t hate, or even dislike these folks, but I was born here and we speak English here.  They can get with it or deal with walking around with their own private translator.  I could care less.

Probably one of the hardest things anyone can do is try and learn something new. Congrats to anyone who tries.
