Turkish women attack clothing law

Turkish women obviously won’t take shariah law laying down.

About 70 Turkish women have protested in Istanbul after a court found a woman guilty of exhibitionism for fishing in what was termed “improper clothing”.

The protesters marched across the iconic Galata Bridge chanting slogans.

“It’s not exhibitionism, it’s male abuse!” and “State, take your hands off my body!” they cried.

Rows of bemused fishermen watched as they passed – many were wearing strappy tops, flimsy sun-dresses with plunging necklines, or shorts.

The incident they were protesting about occurred last summer, on the same bridge, when men complained that the woman’s clothing was “improper.”

Turkish newspapers quote court documents as saying she was wearing a lightweight outfit like a nightdress, which blew up in the wind.

Last week a judge upheld the men’s complaints.

‘Conservative pressure’
Women protesters say finding the woman guilty of “exhibitionism” is disturbing proof that conservative thinking is on the rise here.

“They think women should stay home and dress properly,” complains Cigdem Mater.

“The question is what is proper? No-one has the right to tell us what to wear, that is the point.”

I salute those women for their bravery in the face of islamification. I also pray they do not wind up like so many women in muslim countries who do not wear an abbayat or a niqab.

we have different cultures, and we have to respect it

  • Kal_El

Yes, but why should we respect their culture when they do not respect ours? How often have Europe and the US bent over to accommodate muslims (footbaths in public airports in the US, no pork or alcohol at company functions in the UK, the slew of honor killings in Europe)? By that logic, then the rest of the world should respect the US and our Cowboy Culture, but all we hear is constant whining over our lack of bending over like much of Europe has. In the same vein we should also respect countries like Brasil where I constantly hear from the women that the men there treat the women like garbage, but it's their culture so we should respect it.

This bollocks about respecting cultures is the foundation of cultural relativism and political correctness.
On this basis the unholy alliance between brain damaged liberals and mad islamists rests.
Cultural equivalence is a total unworkable myth.(how else would educated westerners accept as equivalent the rantings of a 7th century sociopath like Mo).if it were not for the enemy of my enemy is my friend principle?
The answer is that western apologists for Islam are traitors to their own culture and should be treated as such.
As W S Churchill said 110 years ago; if it were not for education and science the moronic abomination that is Islam would already have taken us over; as their declared agenda substantiates.
What can we concerned people do?
Well as we're doing here “We mock them wherever we find them.”just to read the banal effusions
of protest from their blighted brains tell me that they won't find the realisation of their putrid ambitions easy.
BTW What's happened to xcon, belladonna,et al recently? They've been remarkably silent.
I do hope they've taken our good advice and become apostates.
