Woman bomber kills 19 on way to shrine

A FEMALE suicide bomber killed 19 people, mostly women, and wounded 75 yesterday when she detonated an explosive vest among pilgrims being escorted by police to a shrine in Iraq.The bomber struck around dusk near the town of Iskandariya, an area where Shiite pilgrims have to walk through Sunni Arab towns and villages to reach the holy city of Kerbala.
At least one policeman was killed and three were wounded in the attack in a volatile, religiously mixed area once known to US troops as the “triangle of death”.
Thousands of pilgrims have begun travelling on foot towards Kerbala to commemorate the birth of the 12th Imam al-Mehdi, a Messiah-like figure revered by Shiite Muslims.
The pilgrimages have become an annual ritual show of strength for Iraq’s Shiite majority since the fall of Saddam Hussein, a Sunni Arab who restricted some Shiite religious practices. But the events remain high-profile targets for sectarian attacks.
Sickening, another muslim killing muslims, on their way to a religious shrine. Of course, had it been American soldiers killing muslim jihadis using a mosque as an operations center, which punk as muslim jihadists love to do, because they know we respect other people’s religions, even death cults like islam, the liberal media would be crying foul, and some idiot leftist commie senator would liken those soldiers to Nazi SS.
