Iranian parliament: Death to non-Muslim converts

Iran’s parliament has passed the death penalty for apostasy, which is viewed in that country as converting to any other faith than Islam.

Thousands of Iranians have been converting to Christianity, and the underground church is thriving, according to reports. But other Iranians are returning to Zoroastrianism, which was the dominant religion in Iran at one time. Jonathan Rocho, with International Christian Concern (ICC), explains.

“We, as a Christian organization, are very much concerned about this because this means many Christians who converted from Islam are going to face death, simply because of their decision to follow Jesus Christ,” Rocho laments.

He says Iranians are questioning the Muslim faith after living under the regime, which has been dominated by the religion since the revolution in the 1970s. ”They have not seen any change in their lives,” Rocho adds. “There is even more repression, more problems going on in the country, so they are very much confused about the Islamic faith.”

Already, two Christian converts accused of apostasy have been given the death penalty. Since Iran does not easily succumb to international pressure, Rocho urges people to pray.

And why would Iran succumb to international pressure? The only pressure applied is sanctions, when the only language understood by the musselman is violence. Look at how they were turned back at Vienna in 1683. It was NOT through sanctions and B Hussein Obama like talks with no precondition. It was brute strength. Same with the Berbers, the muslim pirates of the Mediterranean. American Naval POWER sent them running to hide in their mosques, not feeble carrots dangled in front of them like the Europeans are doing now with Iran’s nuclear weapons push. And Israel, when threatened with either death at the hands of the Arabs or drowning in the Mediterranean in 1948, chose brute force against the Arab armies. Only then did the muslim armies back off.

The arab philosophy of “me against my brother, my brother and I against my father….etc” might have something to do with it.  Also the constant inculcation of violence, repressed antagonism against any one not of a defined group, and the cultural dynamic of that as taught from birth in the home and in religion might be factors as well.  The muslim mind and value set seems to be much different than western thought.  That may be why the islamiphobes seem to be so contemptuous of the west and our values.  Ours “progress” while theirs remain 14th century almost by mandate of law.  That is probably why islamic societies are so backward and stagnant.

    Isn’t there a world-wide organization that is supposed to protect everyone’s individual freedoms? I could’ve sworn I read about that somewhere….  :P

Is it not constraining the freedom, especially of religion also againts the teachings of Islam?

The only freedom of religion in Islam is for Islam. Islamic Imperialism is the goal of Islam, it conquers and converts by the sword, and by infiltration and intimidation when that fails. This law just makes the practice of killing apostates official. They also ban prosletyzing because they can't stand competition from other religions. I would think if you had anything to do with a “Phillipines Law Library” you would know all that. So, was this a trick question?
