The terrorist suspected of masterminding the assassination of Benazir Bhutto has died, of kidney failure, according to various reports.
Leader of Taliban umbrella group dies after battle with diabetes
PAKISTANI Taliban commander Baitullah Mehsud, accused of masterminding the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto, has died, a Pakistani newspaper says.
The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Taliban chief, who was believed to be suffering from diabetes and hypertension, passed away on Wednesday, Dawn News said, quoting official sources.
The militant group’s spokesmen have yet to confirm the death.
The News reported earlier this week that Mehsud, who suffered from diabetes, had been bed-ridden for the past three weeks and was unable to move, causing concern among Taliban leaders.
It also reported that his poor health had led top a meeting of the Taliban’s top brass at Makeen in South Waziristan. Mehsud fell into a coma earlier this year
“This time also he seems to have gone into a coma… This time, however, his condition may be more serious as his kidneys have failed because of the high level of sugar,” a source was quoted by the News as saying.
We didn’t get him like we did Zarqawi, and all those other anonymous jihadis, but a dead terrorist is a dead terrorist, and one less bug to stomp on. Good riddance.
