Muslim Cleric: Replace capitalism with Islamic financial System

Wow, what a shock.  A Muslim leader calling for more Muslim control over the Infidel’s economic system.

Muslims should take advantage of the global financial crisis to build an economic system compatible with Islamic principles, influential Sunni cleric Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi said on Sunday.

“The collapse of the capitalist system based on usury and paper and not on goods traded on the market is proof that it is in crisis and shows that Islamic economic philosophy is holding up,” said the Egyptian-born, Qatar-based cleric.

“The Western system has collapsed and we have a complete economic philosophy as well as spiritual strength,” he said at Sunday’s opening of a conference on Jerusalem.

“All riches are ours… the Islamic nation has all or nearly all the oil and we have an economic philosophy that no one else has,” Qaradawi said.

He urged Muslims to “profit from the crisis to bring about the triumph of the (Islamic) nation, which holds the spiritual and material resources for victory.”

  1. ..this sounds like a Ron Paul argument.  makes you think.

  2. funny, they have all the oil, but can’t use it themselves.  how many of these goat herders own cars?  if it werent for the millions upon millions of cars and things we need oil for here, they would be the poorest countries in the world.  funny how their people are actually worse off than third world countries without oil.  they live in filth, can’t read and have no hope for the future.
when your best prospect is to strap on a bomb belt to kill yourself and a few innocent people, so your family gets the $25,000 from the saudis for being a martyr.  yeah now thats an economic system I can believe in.

  3. In an economic “system based on usury and paper and not on goods traded on the market” the borrower, (the average Westerner), is in a state of crisis from the signing of the contract.  The primary reason why many Western experts oppose this, is not because of the name Islam, but because Muslims are amongst the primary whistle-blowers about the inevitability of unjust economic enslavement of the average person.
Those who stand to benefit in a system that practices usury/interest are amongst the primary public-relations representative and co-conspirators of establishing a state of Islamophobia.
Take away the label of Islam, and deal with pure mathematics, logic, social conscience and justice — and the Islamic economic system is no doubt superior to capitalism and communism - put together.
Like the term ‘democracy,’ ‘capitalism’ is purported as great, but in practice is not even applied by the people who champion the cause.

  4. The economic models I see in every islamic country I live in are a bunch of inbred royal families who own everything (airlines, malls, restaurants, banks, etc…) and bring in foreign labor and force them to work 12-14 hour shifts, 6 days a week, for less than minimum wage, while they sit on their fat asses getting drunk and high (not very islamic, are they). Instead of economic “enslavement” that everyone accuses the Capitalist nations of doing (no one FORCED me to get a credit card, no one FORCED those idiots who could not afford a house to get a sub-prime loan), muslim countries enslave in the name of islam. In a Capitalist nation, my parents came with nothing, and had me. I started off broke, but by the sweat of my brow I now make 6 figures, and will retire quite comfortably by the time I am 40-45. Had I been born in a muslim country, I would likely be a day laborer living on minium wage with 14 roommates, as seen in Kuwait where there were recently riots in the streets over the minium wage of 75 dollars a month, WITH FAMILIES TO CARE FOR IN POORER MUSLIM COUNTRIES. When I was in high school ten years ago I was making TEN TIMES THAT.   Yeah, that islamic model is much better.

  5. My dad told me a long time ago, “just because you’re approved, doesn’t mean you can afford it”. I try to carry that with me wherever I go.  And yes a capitalist system is flawed but what system isn’t, according to Muslims the Islamic system. Well, of course!  Islam seems to be their answer for everything! Islam requires no thought, its easy and if you do fuck up, strap on that bomb and find your paradise- No questions asked!
    I often wish I was that Simple….

  6. Figures, just like Marxists they’re going to argue that our system has failed, when we run into a minor problem or two and they ignore all our successes.   Hey Sunni cleric Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, you think we have it bad in the states now?   Wait until the free world no longer needs oil.  Then the entire middle east, including your country, will know some real economic hardship!   By the way, anything involving Sharia sucks.
