Toll from two bomb attacks in Baghdad jumps to 70 killed, injured
BAGHDAD, Oct 2 (KUNA) — Suicide bombers struck Shiite worshippers gathering in two mosques celebrating the end of the Ramadan fasting month in Baghdad on Thursday, killing and injuring more than 70 people, a government security source said.
A suicide car bomber killed nine and wounded 30 at a Shiite assembly hall in the Zafaraniya district, while a teenage boy blew himself up at a mosque in New Baghdad, killing 12 and wounding 26, the source added.Both districts are mainly-Shiite areas in the east of the capital.
In the Zafaraniya strike, the bomber drove a Mercedes into an Iraqi police vehicle guarding a well-protected area around the mosque and triggered the explosion, the source said.
In New Baghdad, a poor Shiite suburb of high-rise apartments, witnesses described the bomber as a boy of about 14 years old.
He stepped into a crowd wearing an explosive belt and blew himself up.
A boy of 14. Obviously someone brainwashed this poor kid into committing this atrocity. And yet there are still some dhimwits in this world who believe islam is peaceful, and actually want to convert voluntarily. Must be nice being that flexible, able to bury their heads in their asses up to the shoulder.
