When they look at Obama, they see and hear whatever they want to believe. There is no Obama really, just a screen for people to project their own desires onto.
 
You can’t get past word one with those people.  Challenging Obama is threatening to their own egos because that is what they see–themselves.
 
My sister and brother-in-law are supporters of Comrade Zero and if anyone mentions the slightest thing about him that is not completely positive they act just like cult members–anger, fury, emotional outbursts, tears.

Hitler wrote an autobiography, was a community organizer, a good speaker and offered to save the people of Germany with a socialist government.  that worked out, didn’t it?  so now history can repeat itself, sit back and enjoy the ride.  I am sure ayres, rev wright and louis farrakhan will enjoy dinner at the white house and spending weekends in the Lincoln bedroom, as they look down on “We the People”.

  As a person who has toured the block more than once or twice, I know better than to believe the things that come out of any politician’s mouth without taking a good long look at the record and background of said politician.  Obama is smoother than a “Mack Avenue Pimp” but is a man without substance and certainly not above falsehood and outright lies to get where he wants to go.  He speaks well and is silky, and knows it.  There is a certain arrogance about the man.  Problem is, he’s talking much more conservative then he has EVER acted.  Look at his record of being slightly to the right of marx and Lenin.  Actually more BETWEEN Marx and Lenin.  Trust him?  Sure, just like a “Mack Avenue Pimp”………with my hand on my gun.

There is a demonic spirit at work in this election. I know that sounds wierd, but it’s true. I have a friend who is an ex-Satanist, She told me that the when they  set out to destroy a church or a group or a person, the first thing they do is send out the spirit of deception. When that takes root, then it allows all other things in. It blinds the minds of those that it affects and then they cannot see truth. Just think about it. Those who are trusting him are doing so in the face of every truth that is brought out about him. The main stream media are totally submitted to this spirit. They pour out deception every time they do a broadcast. Why is America falling prey to so many things that are self destructive? Why are we allowing the things to happen here that will ruin our country?  Because half the country is under deception.  No I am not crazy. The devil is “a liar and the father of lies”, and he is working to devour this nation which was founded on righteousness and God’s principles.  And I believe if there is a conciousness then it’s expression would be love.

And if pure love was to judge my behaviour then I think my frailties would be given some allowance.

 And as for Obama.  He will not do anyone any good.  He is a socialist.  And as an atheist or agnostic, you should be well aware of the kind of damage that socialism wreaks upon those under its yoke.  It is a religious kind of persecution that denies the freedoms of the individual in favor of the nebuous “all.”  But, its really just about power.

He wants to take our money, our hard earned money, to use it as HE sees fit, and as sees fit, is to give it to people who did not earn it.  Bad. Bad. Bad.

Also i am not completely against some sort of wealth distribution myself. For example if one were to increase taxes on billionaire financial traders, and use it to help someone who hadn’t earn’t it… lets say for example a person with downs cyndrome, or a person who got paralyzed or something similar, then i would have to say (with no hint of mockery) that i would support it… 
I seem to remember Jesus chasing out money lenders, and helping the disabled… but maybe he isn’t a good example of the free market.

She was just expressing her opinion in religious terms because that is what is dear to her.  You don’t have to agree with her.  But, if you don’t believe in god or God then I assume that you don’t believe in anointing.  Don’t insult her faith.
 
As far as “redistribution of wealth”  Obama is not talking about helping the helpless.  He is talking about looking out for “the person in back of ya’ ”  So, presumably the person just behind you competing in the market but for some reason not doing as well as YOU.
 
The whole crux of the matter is that it’s YOUR money.  Americans give more to charity than any other nation on earth.  Why should that be the government’s job?  They don’t do any type of human service very efficiently or in a way that is good for a person.

Well, Simon, now it makes perfect sense.  You like Obama but you won’t have to live under his socialist policies–ie, its not YOUR money he is taking.
 
See, he is being kind of vague about the whole socialism thing.  Socialist dresses itself in the garment of charity, helping the poor, helping those who need a hand, helping the struggling.
 
But, the role of the government is not to be a Sugar Daddy.  The role of government is to collect taxes for programs that serve the interests of all the people.  The money goes towards things that private industry should not do–policing things, the military, etc.
 
In socialism, the money goes to whatever special interest the “great leader” deems important.  Check out Zimbabwe–redistribution of wealth.  Using force they took private lands that were actually profit producing businesses, which helped supply the country not only with food but with products for trade, and they gave them to the “poor.”  Read that–Mugabe’s cronies.  Inevitably the “poor” ends up being cronies.
 
Now, the country is facing mass starvation.  No one has anything.
 
Now, Obama is not upfront about his beliefs in socialism.  If he were, people would likely not vote for him. 

Part of the problem is that socailist/Marxist philosophies have infected society–schools, especially journalism and education.
 
People are conditioned to believe that socialism could lead to a Utopia.  But, it won’t.  We know where socialism leads and its not pretty.

hi chris, leaving aside the question of socialism which I would love to debate when I am not in an I phone. The point about telling the truth about Islam is I good one . I am definitely not a fan of Islam, so would find it had to defend. But one can not deny it is a faith. And I was asked in a previous post not to mock someones faith.
Personally I think both Islam and Christianity are ludicrous belief systems that have caused terrible suffering historically. I believe the teachings of Christ are very good and peacful. But as you can see from the insults I have already recieved Christians tend to be as sanctimonious an aggresive as anyone else.

Both tony Blair and bush are so called christans and yet have caused more death an suffering through their bombing campaigns (based on wilful lies) than any bunch of crazy Moslems.
The cruelty and suffering caused by Christians throughout history is appaling.

Whatever happened to turn the other cheek or the meek shall inherit the earth… Or judge not…. Etc. I don’t see why anyone who believed nonsense should be excused from mockery. Going on about hell and blasphemy… Is just another techniqe of the thought police.

Hi Chris… I am not a fan of Islam that is why i discovered this site. I am not defending it. However it is undeniable that Islam is a “faith”. I was advised on this thread not to mock peoples faith. What was of course was meant was “mock other people’s faith by all means, but don’t mock mine” Personally I believe both Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Satanism, Sufism, etc are all equally responsible for terrible atrocities the world over. Christianity does not i fear have clean hands. Richard the Lionheart slaughtering the entire populations of towns in the Holy land, medieval witch trials, The Spanish inquisition, the massacre of Aboriginal peoples, even the Salem witch trials, have all been done in the name of Christianity. So much for “love thy neighbour as thyself”. Religious Zealots of all denominations appear to love their belief systems more than their fellow man.

Kay L. I seem to remember from my history lessons that the American founding fathers, clearly set out the seperation of Church and State. That is the constitutional basis of your country. So anyone who starts invoking god into politics (e.g sarah “this pipeline is gods will” Palin) is running totally counter to the constitution of your fine country. And anyone who disregards the constitution in such a henious way, can in my mind only be considered as totally unpatriotic.   

One further point, If you want to have a look at mildly socialist countries which to my mind work very well, take a look at Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway.

I have lived for many years in Holland, and found it to be a wonderful country, high taxes yes, but most parents have access to child care, they have a very low crime rate, in a recent survey Dutch children were found to be the happiest in Europe. Zero gun crime, women can walk anywhere at any time in Amsterdam without fear of attack.
I saw a New york comedian perform in Amsterdam, his whole routine was based on being black and so poor “You guys ever been so poor you can’t eat.. that you have to use a small piece of butter to shine your shoes”.. and so he went on in this vein. the dutch audience seemed bemused… no they had no experience of this… no one is that poor in holland. Because that sort of poverty doesn’t exist there. Everyone does get a pension, most people can get housing, the gap between rich and poor is not so marked there…. True the taxes are high, but the social benefits are good. Probably not the place to be if you want to spend fortunes on luxury items, big cars, expensive mansions, huge televisions… but the benefits are enormous.
I am not suggesting that all the christians would want to be persuing the god of mammon… its easier for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven etc. But if you would like to see a place that is mildly socialist.. go to Holland, I have three American friends there… they went for a holiday and never left. 
Massive gaps between rich and poor can cause terrible social divisions, I don’t think that some sort of wealth distribution is necessarily bad, and in the dutch case i can testify that it can lead to a less envious, and more socially cohesive society.  

the founding fathers did set up the seperation of church and state, not the outlawing of belief in a god.  seperation of church in state means the government can’t force you into a state sponsered religion.  it doesn’t mean you cant say “god bless you”.  after all our money says “in god we trust” and our pledge of alligence says “under god”, you as an American can fill in which ever version of god you want.  so that also inclludes politicians, we are close to outlawing the word “god” or at least the aclu and liberals are, they hate any form of faith or a belief system.
holland, europes hash paradise, where a cartoon can get you killed and an opinion can put you under 24 hour police protection from being murdered by a muslim.  see thats the kind of stuff we are trying to avoid here.  I kinda like being able to walk down a street and not worry about getting stabbed in the chest because of something I said, or have my car set on fire because mohammed was on south park.

Hi Ender, I don’t know why you mention outlawing god… I have never suggested that. I would have to do some resesearch on the pledge of allegiance, but I believe that the “under god” is not the original pledge. Rather it is something that was added in the during the Mcarthy era, do destinguish Americans from the “godless commies”. therefore it is not an original pledge, but something added much later, and debatably not in keeping with the spirit of the true concept of the founding fathers.

As for liberals hating god or belief systems, well that has me confused. I am aware that in your country the word liberal is akin to a swear word. In my country the word liberal (from the root liberty) means you can do pretty much what you want as long as it doesn’t hurt others. It might be worth looking up the word liberal in the dictionary so we can be sure what we are talking about. My understanding of the word is that it is similar to the word tolerant. 

As for the bit about a cartoon getting you killed… I completely agree with you… unfortunately our “liberal” attitudes to immigration from moslem countries has caused us terrible problems, and I agree with everything you say about the situation here. It is a bloody nightmare… free speech is going out the window… and we are becomming the victims of moslem intolerance. It is even worse in holland in that respect. We are the victims of political correctness gone mad.

On the subject of hash.. I am in kind of two minds about that. All drugs are pretty bad news. Alcahol is of course a drug, and having spent a spring break in Florida i can attest to it’s disasterous affects. In Britain the highest death rate for 18 – 25 year olds is alchahol related. 65% of crimes of violence – alchahol related. 61% domestic violence, criminal damage, road deaths etc etc all alchahol related.

It is interesting to note that christianity as far as i am aware (cf islam buddhism hinduism) is an alchahol based faith system. the first trick jesus did (apparently) was to turn water into wine. the central “sacrament” of christianity is yes you have guessed it.. drinking alchahol (jesus’ blood apparantely…. how wierd is that?)

personally i think if everyone smoked weed on a saturday night the fights would just evaporate. Everyone has a drug of choice… mine is weed, others get drunk, personally in terms of violence and crime alchahol is the one that should be illegal… whether it is the blood of christ or not

The church I was raised in did not allow drinking or smoking, we had grape juice for sacrament, I shit you not! I’m not a big fan of organized religion but I do believe in God and I try to be a spiritual bitch. I just lack a tolerance of ignorance, can’t stand it and Islam makes me holla What-The-Fuck on a daily basis.  There have been times when Christianity has put me in that situation as well, it’s a lack of good sense that fuels the ignorance that enrages me. Be it Religion, Politics or the latest style (Ponchos, wtf!) I get riled.

I’m really glad someone else pointed that out.

Faith and religion, Gods, devils and that have nothing to do with it all.  There are two very opposing views in this election.  On one side we have socialism, the taking from those that have and giving it to those who have not.  On the other side we have Democracy, and that has not been alive and well in this country for a while.  I see it as a battle between truth and light versus the darkness, lies and evil.  I want to see the return of the values we had in this country when I was a kid….even though I know that is impossible.  But, a return to HONOR should be possible.  Politicians and greedy money men have dragged this country into the mud and shit of corruption.  Those need to be sought out and punished.  We already have many of their names and numbers.
Obama talks of change.  Great.  But when we go looking for his bonafides, we find everything hidden or obscured by half truths.  Obama struts like a high school hero……I really think he feels this is half a game.  Michelle is filled with hate and confusion.  She doesn’t know who she really is and ain’t happy at all with what she knows about herself.  Angela Davis look-alike too.  Ugly bitch. 
Obama isn’t in there alone.  He’s got some powerful people with deep pockets carrying him, both here and overseas.  That alone should tell the world something.  I don’t care what name you want to call it but there is EVIL in this world.  I have seen it and it really scares me.  That force is what is pushing all of this, and Obama is part of an evil plan.  He may not even know it.  He’s just a little man playing a part on a big stage that he is too fucking dumb to understand….just like any diehard democrat/liberal.  They really think they’re working for good.  Far right republicans think they are right.  Greedy politicials and wall street denizens are happily filling their pockets with an attitude of “ME FIRST” with all that money….shit I can’t even imagine what 90 million dollars LOOKS like…but these guys toss around numbers like that with no problem.
  I’ll tell you this though.  I’m sick and tired of having someone else control my life.  I’m sick of politicos and $5000 suits and $200,000 cars and multi-million dollar homes given to unworthy fucks on my dimes.  That’s what I’m tired of.  Trust Obama?  I trust that puke to stink after he’s dead.  That’s about as far as it goes.   Obama is lies and bullshit.  Hidden secrets and questions that he won’t answer.  On the other hand, we KNOW McCain.  We know how he suffered for his HONOR (and that’s what it was about).  We know about his integrity (his life is an open book).  And if you’re and American working person, you KNOW who Sarah Palin is.  You’re either her yourself or you’re married to her, or wish you were.  I guess you can figure out how I’m going to vote.  What I don’t understand is how anyone could even consider that fraudulent fuck Obama in the first place.

i don’t agree with anything you say… but thats cool. As I have said I think Obama would be good, but I do have doubts. I had the same feeling years ago when we elected Tony Blair… I was so excited… really hoped for change… had total faith in our new leader… I was practically dancing in the street. It didn’t take long for the excitement to wear off… he started lying the moment he was in office… I hated his puppy dog attitude to George Bush ( no offence mate but around the world that guy really is a big joke… a total embarassment). 

Maybe Obama is just like all the others… Maybe there is no such thing as a “decent politician”…. maybe they are all a bunch of corrupt bastards with their snouts in the trough.
I would like to be a bit optomistic about Obama… but he may prove to be just one more dissapointment. I hope not. But just because Mcain served in the army doesn’t make him any better…. Hitler served as a corporal in the first world war, but it didn’t make him an open book imo.
We can agree to disagree on candidates… democracy and all that… my real fear is that they are all a bunch of corrupt liars. Mcain can’t even remember how many houses he has (five I believe)… you can’t tell me he speaks for the common man who is  struggling to avoid losing his home.

I do think at least on one level that for the states to have a black president is a tribute to your country, and a sign that things have changed for the better. As to whether he delivers the goods who can say? I really hope so… but i do have this nagging doubt that i am about to be fooled again! 

Simon, just an FYI, Obama is running his campaign parallel to Bill Clinton’s campaign. Promise middle class tax cuts but never deliver. Promise universal health care, never deliver. Higher taxes on the rich, never deliver. There’s a pattern amongst the Dem’s and it seems to be high on promise and low on delivery. Dem’s try to maintain that they are “champions of the working class” but it couldn’t be further from the truth, they are champions of politics. Carry on…

But I am preparing for dissapointment

Mr. Bush has made some bad decisions. He doesn’t have the support of the house or the senate and I am in no way defending him but being president of this country is most definitely the hardest job in America. For every 1 person that agrees with you, there are 10 ready to chop you off at your knees. I don’t think Obama is planning on this, I think he believes there will be little opposition to his plans, he is wrong. Many democrats (who will hold their tongues til after election-cowards) do not approve of Obama plans to tax the wealthy, why? They are the wealthy. I promise you Simon, that is a tax plan that will never pass.
With the flat tax it’s all fair, 10% of my income ain’t shit. 10% of Obama’s wifes income, that’s something.

I agree that being president is a hard job… it has always struck me that Bush is a man who can barely talk…. why he got elected god only knows. And world wide he has done the image of america terrible harm. Abu graaib (ok i can’t spell it… but he can’t even say it) camp x ray, guantanamo bay, extraordinary rendition, torture, waterboarding…

Did you know that in the Neuremberg Trials after the second world war 8 Japanese officers were put to death by the American lead court for water boarding?

You live in a really great country… i feel slightly patriotic about America and I’m English for gods sake!

But Bush has trampled over over justice, human dignity, the Geneva Convention. And the freedoms and that has made your country so wonderful. 

After 9/11 there was a massive outpouring of sympathy for your country, and rightly so… but he has squandered it, and the revulsion the world feels for his policy of secret torture flights, can scarcely be over stated. imo he has been a disaster.

It really is time for a change now… and to be hones someone like Sarah Palin scares the shit out of me.

And as for tax I envy you! I pay 30% up to 40k a year then after that its 40%.

But on the other hand we have a free healthcare service here… it’s a bit shit but at least it’s free to everyone… now that I do like!

I actually don’t make enough to be taxed (good accountant too). So taxes don’t mean shit to me. I don’t know if it’s 10% or what, I don’t think it matters either, Obama’s tax plan won’t happen. He’s not going to make his buddies pay more, neither will the members of the house or senate.
Why does Palin scare you? She is a mother of 5, she has raised a family in Alaska and reformed a very corrupt state government that pandered to the “good ol’ boy system”
Free health care, lets see. You become a doctor to help people and make money. The US decides it’s going to pay you and all other doctors. You can be an exceptional doctor with a line of patients willing to pay extra to see you and you will not make a cent more than the 4 time med school reject, who is also on the governments payroll. Under this plan, exceptional doctors make the same as eh doctors. Why not be a plumber?? You can still help people and make money with half the responsibilities.

… Sarah palin scares me for lots of reasons. She is a hockey mom who has ceremonies to protect her from witchcraft, believes the earth is only six thousand years old, believes abortion is wrong in ANY circumstance including rape and incest.

And having seen her interviewed I think she is not at all equiped for such a demanding job. One that requires, diplomacy, inteligence, and mental subtlety.

As for the doctor thing… yes you have a point… although things are changing with goverment targets etc. You can always treat people privately as well… or only treat people privately if you like.

the idea of the national health service is that people should be given free heathcare at the point of delivery. And i agree no system is perfect, the healthservice has always been under funded, and is groaning under the patient numbers. It’s not perfect by any means, but the idea of free healthcare may sound a bit socialist and all that, but it is something in many ways i think we should feel proud of (god knows we need something!)

Simon, I can’t help but like Palin. I do disagree with her on abortion, I am pro-choice to an extent, don’t use it as birth control and no abortion after the 4th month of pregnancy- it’s your baby, take care of it or give it to someone who can.  She has been mayor and governor, that’s more executive experience than Obama and Biden have combined. Diplomacy is something we have too much of. The Democrats are all about diplomacy and we need someone ready to crack a whip not talk about the various ways a whip can be cracked.  Obama is the democrats puppet-his strings are illuminated by the teleprompter, look close and you’ll see them too.
In regards to the health care, I do various types of work for my boss, he sells life and health insurance on top of owning 50+ rental properties. There’s a product sold by one of the companies he represents that pays out upon diagnosis of 13 Critical Illnesses. Canadians own more of these policies than Americans. Why? So they can get thier $100,000 and come to the states to get treated instead of waiting in line to get treatment in Canada.  National health care is great if you got the sniffles but if you need real treatment, your screwed.
The privatization of health care in the US has really screwed those who need it and can’t afford it. The government programs pay very little so many private hospitals will not accept Medicare/Medicaid patients. It’s not perfect but I’m glad Im here.
