This to me shows a laziness and selfishness beyond belief. America wasn't that bad off. We have become so spoiled, and so dependent on government, that the masses could not, and would not sacrifice, even temporarily, for those things that time nor money cannot take away. Their comfort level was perceived as intolerable, and the future so bleak, any change no matter how radical was better than what they had "suffered" the last 8 years. Most of what they perceived was an grand illusion weaved by our media, and combined with their ignorance of history, politics and government, the people allowed their manipulation, in part through the guilt they felt about not electing a black man, but mostly because they wanted to be rescued.  Despite the fact that, for the most part, they weren't drowning. No doubt Obama is a charlatan, and totally lacks the experience to lead this country. But, I remain hopeful for the future, and I will be patient throughout his tenure. At the very least we may be vindicated when Obama's true colors are shown, and the American people see him for what he really is.  Maybe this will wake up the true conservative core of the Republican party, and we will stop moving to the left of center to appease Democrats. Maybe. At any rate, I believe in God, and I believe He is still in control. I also believe in the inate goodness of men, although I know this will be a very long and tough road to travel. Maybe this is a lesson we all need to learn from.  I feel somewhat better when I think of others who lived under true dictatorships, and the struggles they encountered as they stood firm for the principles they held near and dear, sometimes to the death.  One true story comes to mind, that was written by a woman named Corrie ten Boom. "The Hiding Place" is a true story of Corrie and her sister who were imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp during WWII. They were Christians who had been caught hiding Jews from the Nazis. The women in the concentration camp bunker were being tortured by the infestation of thousands of fleas, and Corrie wrote about how it was so bad women were losing their hair from scratching, and couldn't even sleep because of the fleas. Corrie and her sister held a prayer session every night with the other women, and during one of the prayer sessions, while they were giving thanks for any good things they had, no matter how small, Corrie's sister told her that they needed to thank God for the fleas too. Corrie was outraged at her sister, and told her "Why should we give thanks for the fleas!?" and her sister replied that "God said to give thanks to Him for everything, not just the good things" Corrie told her sister "I will NOT thank God for the fleas that are torturing us day and night!" A few days later the women noticed that none of the guards had come into their bunker for several days to take anyone away, or to beat them. At first they couldn't figure out why none of the guards had even come near the bunker. And then it dawned on the women that the guards didn't come into the bunker because it was infested with fleas. So, I am very disappointed that Obama won, but I will thank God for Obama today, even though I know Obama isn't the righteous man I would want for President. May God help us all.
