Video: Laura Ingraham on how to fix the GOP

Ed Morrissey adds some good points:

  • Charisma – Regardless of what one thinks of Barack Obama’s (lack of) experience, he became a leader that people wanted to follow … and then some.  If John McCain had run against John Kerry, he could have beaten him.  The Republicans have to find leadership that inspires.
  • Fundraising/grassroots/Internet use – These are the infrastructural changes that the Democrats made under Howard Dean and the GOP have neglected.  Best advice?  Hire Patrick Ruffini and Jon Henke to run that side of the house, if either will do it.  Their new effort, Rebuild the Party, speaks directly to this.
  • Staff unity – Anyone who kneecaps Sarah Palin, for instance, should expect to work in a different industry in the future.  Ronald Reagan called it the Eleventh Commandment: Thou shalt not speak ill of your fellow Republicans.  Criticize policy, but no personal attacks.  A party prepared to govern would already know this.

I also agree that mindless bipartisanship is futile.  Voters will not elect Republicans who act like Democrats; they’ll just vote for the authentic Democrat instead.  However, notice that Laura never advises to start spouting insanities in an effort to out-do the nutcases on the Left.  Stick to the facts and never let up, and build the GOP into a rational, clear alternative to the statist policies of the Democrats over the next two years.

Good ideas.  The GOP has GOT to get back to the roots.  Sarah Palin is a good start.  There are MANY good people that just lay dog when they should be real excited about getting conservative America represented by somebody.  For they last few years the GOP been standing still and taking licks from libtard leftys.  It makes me think that the GOP lost it's guts, as well as it's way.  Libs are anti-responsibility, ponderous fed government and micromanagement.  They tell people that they're stupid and that the lefty elites will fix it all for them....just keep paying all those excessive taxes and you can feel so gooooood about yourself.  That's called "self esteem management" or something.  Well, no problem, we're too dumb to handle that so the "elites" will guide us through it.
The GOP has got to get off the flat of it's ass and redefine what, exactly, the real GOP is....and take ownership and control of that.  The present management of the GOP is gutless and flacid.  They need to go bye-bye.  We need  rabble rousers, firebrands, leaders that can focus the GOP.  It's sure not Bush or McCain.  The campaign was run like the leaders were on heroin or morphine......half asleep.  They haven't done anything about addressing the grass roots issues pissing off the people.  Big company execs and CEOs have exhibited nothing but huge greed, not growth or any moves for improvement or excellence.  Their mantra seems to be "hire a more expensive manager" not brainstorming what changes are necessary.  Obama ran on change, McCain barely mentioned it in comparison.  The people are dying for CHANGE.  The people CRAVE change.  For the last 8 years, GNP was up, stocks were up, employment was up, profits were up......but who did it benefit?  Right.  Greedy execs.  And there you have it.  We'll get our CHANGE alright.  Probably a bit different than ANYONE imagined.  Probably won't like it either.  The senate and congress with the LOWEST approval rating in history will be calling the shots with a left wing prez that belongs to the same party.  How you gunna act when you figure out how screwed we are?????
