Do you like this story?

It seems as if the previous post, A Little History on Guns, has gotten some attention on Digg the last 24 hours. If any of you have a Digg account, go ahead and digg it.

A commenter on Digg had something worth sharing including this cartoon:

As a cop(ex) for seven years working in a high crime area, I dealt with many more murders committed with knives than I did guns, and trust me, if you are going to be killed, you would much prefer being shot, than you would being brutally stabbed to death!

The fact is, if someone wants to kill you, they will kill you with whatever they can get a hold of.
Not allowing law abiding citizens to be armed, besides being UNCONSTITUTIONAL, results in ONLY the criminals being armed!

Have you ever noticed that almost all mass shootings happen in gun FREE zones? (schools, malls)

Also found this on Free Republic who picked up the gun post too.  A poem ya’ll will like.

Why I Carry A Gun

I don’t carry a gun to kill people.
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don’t carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don’t carry a gun because I’m paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don’t carry a gun because I’m evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don’t carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don’t carry a gun because I’m angry.
I carry a gun so that I don’t have to spend the rest of my life
hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don’t carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don’t carry a gun because I’m a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don’t carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don’t carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don’t carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

Police Protection is an oxymoron.
Free citizens must protect themselves.

Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I’m too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin’ !!

Here’s a couple more reasons……1.Call 911 and see if you get put on hold, or, exactly how long does it take a cop to get to your door after you call 911.
      2. I go to a range where the cops around here go to “Qualify”.  I end up teaching cops and showing THEM how it’s done.  Had to “zero” a cop’s AR-15 about a week ago.
3.A gun is a tool, and in the long run, much less expensive than an attack trained Rottweiler.  No Vet bills and all you have to do is feed it ammo. No messy poop bags to carry on walks either.
      4. Just letting a bad guy LOOK at what the exit hole looks like while it’s aimed at his forehead is excellent motivation for the bad guy to leave you alone.  Of course, that’s not as much fun as actually pulling the trigger multiple times.
      5. Hospital stays are expensive.  How is YOUR insurance.  Asume the bad guy’s insurance is better than yours.  Guns are much less expensive and much less emotionally draining than funerals too.  A gun can make the option to opt out of being hurt or dead much more viable.
So here’s a few reasons to ponder.  Hope it made somebody thoughtful anyway.  Guns seem to be increasingly important to people lately for some reason, and a better investment than lots of stocks.  If you don’t own a few yet, it might be something to look into.  Personally, I think the 2nd Ammendment was an excellent idea.  I’m glad we have it.  Seems a shame to let it go to waste.

The Theory of DUH is correct! When will the liberals get it? Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. As long as there’s a beat in my heart there will be one in my chamber.  The mere presence of a gun will stifle stupidity and if you’re gonna pull it- you better use it!  I have no time for an idiot waving a loosely gripped gun. Take it from him and beat him to a bloody pulp for jumping off his porch and daring to roll with the big dogs!

There is no possible victory in defense. . . . Waiting for attack!

The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

    1. Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.

    2. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

    3. I carry a gun cause a cop is too heavy.

    God created Man.
    Sam Colt made them equal.

Cops don’t prevent crime, they do the paperwork after.

This is serious folks, they got elected while promising to “close” the so called “gun show loophole” and reinstate the so called assault weapon ban (that the FBI proved had no discernible effect on crime). To many people stayed home during the elections. It’s time to get those pryin’ sticks out and pop our friends out of the couch cushions because if we don’t do it now it might never get done. bk425 wa-08 EVC

    From My Cold, Dead Hands.

    Enough said.

The left have no problem with the rest of the Bill of Rights (except the First Amendment, though, considering their wanting to pass the “Fairness Doctrine”).  It’s only our ability to protect ourselves from the aggressors that they have a problem with.  And I have a problem with that.

well written! should be the new NRA mission statement

The liberals will never get it because passiveness is in their blood. They think all we have to do is wear peace signs, hold hands and sing kum by ah and everyone will get along. That's a satiric exageration, but they really believe in unilateral disarmament, and complete non-agression. They really want to bring ALL our boys home from everywhere overseas, port the navy, and land the planes. They really think if we did that, that our enemies would do the same, because we've been the agressors and they're just defending themselves. Can't tell them otherwise, and I know, because I have a sister who is one of them.

And they believe the exact opposite of Tonto's post below, they actually try, and usually succeed, living that way, because, despite all the bad news we see every day, the vast majority of our neighborhoods are quiet and peaceful. Sadly, that peace and quiet is being eroded a little more each day, and the media reports that too. In the meantime, we stick to our guns, and this “Why I Carry A Gun” should be issued with every gun permit.

I disagree. I think the left has no problem with the “Bill of Rights” except for the first TEN articles. And I REALLY frickin mean that.

Guns do allow for rash decisions and accidental deaths. That’s what we really need to watch out for.
