Frank Gaffney reporting from the Washington Times.

Wow, I had hoped we wouldn’t become as stupid as the UK, but apparently some in the Treasury department are.  Look to Obama to immediately denounce this…NOT.

As reported in this space last week, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Robert Kimmitt set the stage with his recent visit to Saudi Arabia and other oil-rich Persian Gulf states. His stated purpose was to promote the recycling of petrodollars in the form of foreign investment here.

Evidently, the price demanded by his hosts is that the U.S. government get with the Islamist financial program. While in Riyadh, Mr. Kimmitt announced: “The U.S. government is currently studying the salient features of Islamic banking to ascertain how far it could be useful in fighting the ongoing world economic crisis.”

“Islamic banking” is a euphemism for a practice better known as “Shariah-Compliant Finance (SFC).” And it turns out that this week the Treasury will be taking officials from various federal agencies literally to school on SFC.

The department is hosting a half-day course entitled “Islamic Finance 101” on Thursday at its headquarters building. Treasury’s self-described “seminar for the policy community” is co-sponsored with the leading academic promoters of Shariah and SCF in the United States: Harvard University Law School’s Project on Islamic Finance. At the very least, the U.S. government evidently hopes to emulate Harvard’s success in securing immense amounts of Wahhabi money in exchange for conforming to the Islamists’ agenda. Like Harvard, Treasury seems utterly disinterested in what Shariah actually is, and portends.

We are heading in the same direction as the UK.

How long are we Americans going to put up with this crapola?  We need to get energy independent real fast so we are no longer required to suck up to the rag head pukes.  Beneath all those lovely white dresses those guys wear, their soft words and assurances of friendship, is a seething hate and rage.  They really hate our guts, I don’t care what anybody says.  They really do believe that they are allah’s “chosen people”.  Problem is: Is the Obamanation going to be “up to it”?????????

It is pathetic that our so called leaders have not done a damn thing to get away from Saudi oil. They should of started this decades ago.

Chris and Tonto, I couldn’t agree more. Now we have Obama who will not pull us away from Saudi Oil. I just wonder what the hell Obama plans on doing that will be a positive step for this country. No drilling at home, excessive taxing of the upper-middle class and diplomacy with terrorist nations. If you look directly up at the sky, you can see the rim of toilet seat.

No motorcycle riding today cause it’s raining here.  I saw a guy on TV that said something I’d thought about before.  He said back in the 70s, when we went through the oil crisis and the ‘rabs were teaching us to pay attention, we had the opportunity THEN to do what we should have done about oil independence and alternative resources.  It’s been over 30 years and 7 (?) administrations, both GOP and dem, and what’s been done?  Not a damned thing.  I didn’t detect a “big red S” on “the one’s” shirt, although some have imagined it, so I really doubt instant movement on that.  Obama has made a lot of dreamy promises, but he’s a man with a lion’s eye with a chihuahua ass.  He just ain’t got all the resources, money wise, to do whatever he wants, thanks to the democrat plot to tank the US economy.  The dems did too good a job.  We’re damn near broke and that’s really going to screw up his whole program.  So get in line y’all.  Really liked the line about the toilet seat.

…. your country is financially on it’s ass because of eight years of  George Bush. You have had the republicans in for eight years, and you blame the democrats for the finacial problems you have?

When Clinton left, you had a massive surplus, a great economy… then came Bush.

It is simply ridiculous to blame democrats for the financial mess you are in.

  • Tonto (USA)

Obviously simon, you have your hat confused with your ass.  Bush did NOT create the financial crisis we’re in.  It started with Carter, given more teeth by Clinton and actively pursued by intimidation mode by the Dems and by their “brownshirts” called ACORN.  The talk that it was Bush’s fault is a total frickin’ lie generated by the Dems to keep their seats in Congress.  There are multiple sources to view that will tell you all about it, including youtube.com, so get busy and try to extract your head from your cloaca.
