Your feel good story of the day

Ynet

Is Hamas falling apart? A senior IDF officer estimated Saturday that roughly 300 Hamas men have been killed since the army launched its ground incursion in the Gaza Strip. The military official said IDF troops were able to wipe out whole battalions belonging to the Gaza terror group.

“Hundreds of people were killed in the various combat sectors,” the officer said. “Some Hamas companies and battalions were simply wiped out. We also see cases of desertions and unauthorized leaves, while some terror activists are scared to undertake moves that would jeopardize them vis-à-vis IDF troops.”

Earlier Saturday, the IDF killed Hamas’ rocket chief in the Gaza City area, Amir Mansi. The senior officer said that shortly before his death Mansi clashed with his subordinates, who refused to come out of their hideouts. The rocket chief was left with no choice but to launch mortar shells himself, and was killed after being identified by the army.

Good news, but need to keep after them. No so-called defeat in this incursion. Take Iran's surrogate out in the west.

'And how can one be complicit to a degree?"

When the media is overwhelmingly backs one candidate or party, be it Obama, Putin, or Hamas, you cannot call it FAIR election. Some Palestinians voted for the Hamas because they are evil fucks, but some of them voted for the Hamas because they were duped. Ignorance or stupidity is not a good excuse, but it still doesn't rise to the level of active support for terrorism. Besides, 60% of the Palestinians did not vote for Hamas.

Let us pray for the safety of Palestinian civilians who held hostages by Hamas and the safety of Israeli soldiers. May this campaign end swiftly and may Hamas be annihilated. May moderate Muslims emerge victorious in the struggle for Gaza!

Agreed. I have posted a couple of articles here about the terrorists Hamas using human shields. However, the civilians living there ELECTED Hamas. While I feel for the children, who have no voice, and should always be protected from harm, the adults are complicit in the events of the past two years.

"However, the civilians living there ELECTED Hamas."

Yeah, well, Russians have "elected" Putin too. It's not exactly what you'd call free elections.

"the adults are complicit in the events of the past two years."

    To a degree.

Actually, the KGB installed Putin. Just like they dispose of journalists who speak out for freedom in Russia. The Russian people did not want this. Palestinians chose Hamas, there is a difference. And how can one be complicit to a degree? You either chose evil or you did not. There is no middle ground…

♦♠"KGB installed Putin"… not quite… don't talk about things you know nothing of. Russia may be a crazy place, but Putin won elections somewhat fair and square (I have seen worse). Stating that KGB installed him without referencing any sources of such claims and then just moving on trying to prove you point with such a start is hardly convincing.

What is happening in Gaza is terrible – war is terrible, and stating that this is the feel-good story of the day is just infantile and stupid.

Hamas is on the other hand getting what they deserve – blasting rockets into Israel for years cannot be excused under any circumstances. Hamas is not a political organization as long as they support a terrorist sub division – this makes the entire organization a terrorist organization, and this justifies what is happening.

Agreed, I meant that to be fascetious, about Russia, and should have implied that. But note that you had to append to the statement on the elections the words "somewhat fair and square". And I too have seen far worse (Venezuela for one, Syria where Bashar al-Assad recently won 97% of the votes, and Lebanon where politicians are retired and replaced via the carbomb). And you are absolutely right, Hamas is NOT a political organization, but a terrorist one. And the Palestinians elected them of their own free will. I was watching the live video feeds on al Jazeera, al Manar, and other local stations in the middle east when they took over Gaza. They brought this upon themselves.

How is stating that an evil organization being destroyed utterly is the feel-food story of the day infantile? You said yourself the 8 years of rocket attacks cannot be excused. I am curious on your reasoning for saying that, not trying to attack you.

  • Martin

Because it is not only evil people dying, innocent bystanders – children – are caught in this too. This is sad. The is nothing feel-good about war in general – it is a necessary means to resolve an otherwise unsolvable conflict – not a cozy saturday afternoon event…

Unfortunately innocent people always die in war. It happened in Iraq and Kuwait in 91, in Europe during both World Wars, in the US during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, and during the wars the Berbers waged on North Africa and Spain. As for it being a feel-good thing, I personally feel good that an evil entity is being destroyed. I mourn for the innocent ones, of course, but in the long run, letting evil fester in order to protect the innocent they use as human shields would only make evil stronger.

It should be noted that when I refer to "feel good story of the day", I'm not taking joy in the fact that innocent women and children are killed in the process. That's not what I'm feeling good about. What I sure as hell feel good about is Hamas finally getting what they deserve. If my one line comment was taken out of context, then please understand that I don't take joy in innocent people dying.

You're right, war is a necessary evil, but stating that is a feel good story is actually true to me so I wouldn't call it infantile or stupid. If you can understand the context in which I say it, then you would understand.

Innocent ……… hmm ………… Do you recall the dancing joy of the innocents after 9/11? Does anyone believe a single muslim weeps with remorse upon reading of the death of civilian Jews after a rocket launch or the suicidal action of a brainwashed child too young to know right from wrong or shit from old iron? Sunni slaughtering Shi'ite, or vice versa: now THAT'S a feel-good story! Never forget: today's innocent muslim child is tomorrow's suicide bomber. The poor little devil is programmed for it. I wonder if he's old enough to avail himself of the pleasures offered by all those heavenly virgins ……….. God, what a religion! So sensitive to women, is it not?
