Warning that Pakistan is in danger of collapse within months

by Infidelesto on April 12, 2009 · Comments

Talk about Obama “being tested within the first months of his Presidency” as Joe Biden put it.  Can you imagine the tough and unpopular decisions Obama will have to make once Pakistan’s nukes have officially been taken control by Islamic Radicals such as the Taliban or Al Qaeda? Yea, I know, I know, just more fearmongering right? We really have nothing to worry about with Pakistan and all this jibber jabber about nukes being controlled by Al Qaeda is just nonsense isn’t it?

Sorry, but this is true and dire.  Pakistan is within months of a full collapse.  And guess who will be there to fill the vacuum? Ah yes, Allah’s messengers.

PAKISTAN could collapse within months, one of the more influential counter-insurgency voices in Washington says.

The warning comes as the US scrambles to redeploy its military forces and diplomats in an attempt to stem rising violence and anarchy in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

“We have to face the fact that if Pakistan collapses it will dwarf anything we have seen so far in whatever we’re calling the war on terror now,” said David Kilcullen, a former Australian Army officer who was a specialist adviser for the Bush administration and is now a consultant to the Obama White House.

“You just can’t say that you’re not going to worry about al-Qaeda taking control of Pakistan and its nukes,” he said.

As the US implements a new strategy in Central Asia so comprehensive that some analysts now dub the cross-border conflict “Obama’s war”, Dr Kilcullen said time was running out for international efforts to pull both countries back from the brink.

When he unveiled his new “Afpak” policy in Washington last month, the US President, Barack Obama, warned that while al-Qaeda would fill the vacuum if Afghanistan collapsed, the terrorist group was already rooted in Pakistan, plotting more attacks on the US.

“The safety of people round the world is at stake,” he said.

Laying out the scale of the challenges facing the US in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Dr Kilcullen put the two countries invaded by US-led forces after the September 11 attacks on the US on a par – each had a population of more than 30 million.

“But Pakistan has 173 million people and 100 nuclear weapons, an army which is bigger than the American army, and the headquarters of al-Qaeda sitting in two-thirds of the country which the Government does not control,” he told the Herald .

Added to that, the Pakistani security establishment ignored direction from the elected Government in Islamabad as waves of extremist violence spread across the whole country – not only in the tribal wilds of the Afghan border region.

Cautioning against an excessive focus by Western governments on Afghanistan at the expense of Pakistan, Dr Kilcullen said that “the Kabul tail was wagging the dog”. Comparing the challenges in the two, he said Afghanistan was a campaign to defend a reconstruction program. “It’s not really about al-Qaeda. Afghanistan doesn’t worry me. Pakistan does.”

DONT WORRY PAKISTAN IS A GREAT NATION THIS IS NOT EASY TO DESTROY OUR HOME LAND WITH THE HELP OF SOME TALIBAN OR ANTI SOCIAL ELEMENTS. WE KNOW WE HAVE LOTS OF THREAS FROM INDIA AFGHNISTAN AND LOTS OF AMERICAN INTERESTS TO STAY IN THIS COUNTRY TO WATCH CHINESE. THESE AL-QAEDA ARE TALIBAN IS OUR AND AMERICAN PRODUCTION FOR AFGHAN WAR AND ITS NOT A BIG TASK TO OVER COME. SINCERELY AFTER QUAID-E- AZAM WE HAVE NO SUCH HONEST POLITICIAN IN OUR COUNTRY TO RUN THE COUNTRY IN A PROSPECTIVE MANNER. WE HAVE EVERYTHING GAS,PETROL,GOLD,WEAPONS AND STRONG IN AGRICULTURILY BUT NEED HONEST LEADERSHIP.

Why do you feel threatened by India? India had nuclear weapons long before Pakistan had them, but was never inclined to use them on you. You say you have no honest politician in your country and no honest leadership. How can you have them when you are so good at murdering them? How can any Muslim country have honest politicians if they are Muslim? An honest Muslim is a contradiction in terms.

We all need honest leadership. I would not hold my breath waiting for it...

Best of luck to the PAKMIL against the Taliban.

What a nice combo: ISLAM & NUKES...

Joe Biden was quite right.Obama will be forced to be the FIRST
U.S.President to actually use the codes that are inside the infamous
"football",if India doesn't nuke the Islamonazis first.

As soon as Pakistan military top officers's heads fall, and replaced
by angry mujahedeem brandishing their swords,Pakistani nukes
will be very likely used against India.

    India should attack Pakistan FIRST.

I am hoping the govt of Pakistan will come to it's senses soon enough to ask the US for direct military assistance. If that happens, I see an opportunity to finish off Al Qeada and the Taliban by eliminating their bases in the provinces they control in Pakistan by occupying them with our forces. If we can bring enough forces to bear from the Afghanistan side of the border, they will no longer have anywhere to run.

Obviously there are many problems involved with this scenario. Can the US find enough boots to put on the ground is the first one to come to mind. How much of the Pakistani Army and security forces would support the US, and how much would support the terrorists, are just a couple that come to mind. I'm afraid if something like this does not happen, the fall of Pakistan is inevitable.

Let me be a bit tongue-in-cheek, Sir Wilhelm. I wonder if Pakistan should call in the Indian military to help them sort things out. After all, the Indian Army gave the Pakistan forces a hammering when Pakistan (West) overran East Bengal (Bangladesh; East Pakistan) some 40 years ago, thus putting a stop to the world-record raping being carried out by the invading Pakistanis. Yes, I know I'm being whimsical.
  • SirWilhelm
All whimsy aside, and I do appreciate it, that wouldn't be a bad idea, if it weren't for the reality of the situation between the two countries. They don't like each other very much, which is why Pakistan's nukes are pointed at India and vice versa. India's army is twice as big as Pakistan's 500k+ to 1mil+ with much of it stationed right on Pakistan's doorstep. If Pakistan could trust the Indians to go home when they were done, they could be quite helpful in crushing the Taliban and Al Qeada. But, that is why I recommended US forces for the job, we have shown we can be trusted to go home when the job's done, and I doubt Pakistan would ever trust India to do the same.
  • Beejj
Yes, Sir Wilhelm, you make perfect sense, although it sticks in my guts to see American life squandered trying to sort out the mess. This DOES NOT mean I am content to see Indians sacrificed, I hasten to add!

Hell, that sonofabitch Jinna had much to answer for, yes? And to think that if Gandhi and the boys had known he was terminally ill with lung cancer, I believe, partition might never have happened! Just consider: we have Indians and Pakistanis; two identical peoples, but they are mortal enemies because of religion!
  • Tonto
From the viewpoint of al qaida, the fall of Pakistan would be the best thing since female camels....access to nukes and an Army to protect them (or at least stall retribution long enough for them to run away) and a bunch of civilian somewhat innocents to surround themselves with.....ah next to paradise! Pakistan is close to collapse all right and nobody to blame but islam......Jeez what a crap phony religion.
  • Necrowulf
Do you want to bet that someone will say that this is the fault of the "joos", america, england, western society, the decadent capitalism of the west or something else? Or even invent some other BS to blame?
  • Tonto
Oh hell yeah, but that's such normal shit for muz that I didn't think to mention of it...excuse me.
