Iran, Venezuela enter into military alliance

Presstv.ir – Iran and Venezuela have moved to strengthen their cooperation in defense areas, a move that may ruffle feathers in the United States.

Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammed-Najjar met with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Thursday and pledged Tehran’s full military support for the Caracas government.

“Iran pledges its full support to promote the Venezuelan military’s defense capabilities in the framework of mutual defensive agreements,” Brigadier General Mohammad-Najjar said.

Following his meeting with the president, the Iranian minister met with Vice President Ramon Carrizalez, who is also Venezuela’s acting defense minister.

The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on military cooperation which encompassed “training and mutual exchange of military experiences”.

Carrizalez for his part said, “Venezuela is fully determined to strengthen defense ties with Iran.”

    This is BAD NEWS for us,Brazilians.We usually wouldn't need
    U.S.support,but this time,an American base in our northern
    border with Venezuela would be highly desirable...
    The problem is that:
    A) Brazil is TOO DAMN PROUD to ask for American help;

    B) Brazilian left-winger congressmen and senators would VETO
    any kind of American "imperialistic move" into Brazil;

    C) Our president Luiz Inácio "Lula" da Silva is the "KING OF ALL
    APPEASERS " in the world.Chamberlain and Obama would look like
    warmongers next to him;

    D)Brazilian comercial ties with the Arab and Islamic world
    could be damaged beyond repair;

    Therefore,from this side of the border NOTHING will impede
    Mr.Chávez's belicose ambitions,even if it would jeopardize our
    own safety.

    Would anyone with the expertise like to determine if the latest Iranian missle can reach the US from Venezuela? Then you can figure how much of the US will be threatened if the Iranians can supply nukes for said missles. I didn't see Chavez or Ahmadinejad rushing to schedule meetings with Obama before they did this did you? And they know very well that Obama wants to talk. Guess The One didn't figure they weren't interested in talking, even to him. Haven't seen the leaders of any other nations or terrorist groups standing in line to talk to him either. Didn't they hear him apologize and accept the blame for all our sins of the past? Could it be they cared less what he said? I guess the intelligent and knowledgeable One never heard that you negotiate from strength, not weakness.

    I'm convinced Ahmadinnerjacket wants to start a war; naively believing that the "hidden "
    Imam will emerge from wherever he's hiding and bring victory for the forces of the insane.
    But his time is running short(he'll be voted out soon).
    Unless of course Khameini lets him rig the elections.
    One can imagine a scenario where his successor might have him shot.
    An attack by Venezuela would invite terrible reprisal that even someone as daft as Chavez might baulk at.
    The biggest danger as I see it is if "dinnerjacket"goads Israel into a preemptive strike(that is what I'm convinced the deranged little twat is up to).
    The sooner he is history,the better.
    Dinnerjacket is a classic narcissist who wants his place in history even if it means death.
    He's like a mega suicide bomber and madly dangerous.

    Hellosnackbar, do you truly believe the little Iranian rodent would contemplate war with America? Even the Soviet Union at its most robust shied from the idea - even when that clown Carter was at the helm. It would be like a school Under 14 XV taking on the All Blacks. America's power is frightening. Of course, Iran now has Venezuela on side. Gosh, that will cause much sleeplessness in the Pentagon! But you are right: Israel is his target, and he wants to engineer things so that Israel will suffer international condemnation and even the animosity of the US. Our little rodent is a savvy guy, so his hidden agenda might well be to taunt Israel into a pre-emptive strike. He has worked out that if such were to occur his standing in the Islamic world would soar, taking Iran to the dominance and influence he craves. I suspect, though, the other Islamic states know what he is up to, so they might spike his guns, given that thy are mainly Sunni.

    Beejj, the problem is that MAD(Mutual assured destruction) is not an idea in the heads of the muslims... or that hairy fly(Rodents are quite intelligent, soimething that "thing" is not).

    Whilst Russia feared being destroyed, Iran doesnt care, as long as it kills some infidels.

    SirWilhem; From what I found out, the iranian missiles(common ones) only reach about 1000km, but that doesnt mean US or europe is safe, there are small islands and provinces part of europe and US in reach of those missiles.

    There are also other countries, allied to the Us, like colombia that is definately withing reach of it.

    Now if they do add Shahab-4/5/6 the Us and Canada will be, without a doubt in reach, Washington, New York or anything... a well placed Nuke it will be devastating. Even a 1 kiloton, or a higher grade 1 megaton... Nuclear fallout, if well placed, will be deadly! The biggest problem, as I said to Beejj, is MAD is not assured, IRan doesnt care if it is destroyed.
