Totten: The Future of Iraq

by Infidelesto on May 12, 2009 · Comments

Michael Totten has begun a four part series on the future of Iraq and he lets us know the good news and the bad news.  This is a must read piece of you’re following what’s going on in Iraq.

During my last trip to Baghdad I tried to figure out if the worst in Iraq is over or if the dramatic reduction in violence is just a long lull. Half the Iraqis and half the Americans I spoke to were optimistic. The other half think Iraq is probably doomed. I have no idea who’s right, and neither does anyone else. This is the first in a four-part series where I’ll present both cases and let you decide what to think for yourself. We’ll start with the good news.

It's too bad the situations in Pakistan and Afghanistan are overshadowing the continuing stability in Iraq. Our troops that made, and in some cases are still making, sacrifices there, deserve to be recognized for what they've achieved. I have, and will always, honor them in my heart.
