Obama warns Israel not to strike Iran

Once again, The Obama administration has harsher words for our allies than they do for our enemies. 

Haaretz reported, via Free Republic:

U.S. President Barack Obama has sent a message to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanding that Israel not surprise the U.S. with an Israeli military operation against Iran. The message was conveyed by a senior American official who met in Israel with Netanyahu, ministers and other senior officials. Earlier, Netanyahu’s envoy visited Washington and met with National Security Adviser James Jones and with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and discussed the dialogue Obama has initiated with Tehran. 

The message from the American envoy to the prime minister reveals U.S. concern that Israel could lose patience and act against Iran. It is important to the Americans that they not be caught off guard and find themselves facing facts on the ground at the last minute. 

Obama did not wait for his White House meeting with Netanyahu, scheduled for next Monday, to deliver his message, but rather sent it ahead of time with his envoy. 

It may be assumed that Obama is disturbed by the positions Netanyahu expressed before his election vis-a-vis Tehran – for example, Netanyahu’s statement that “If elected I pledge that Iran will not attain nuclear arms, and that includes whatever is necessary for this statement to be carried out.” After taking office, on Holocaust Memorial Day Netanyahu said: “We will not allow Holocaust-deniers to carry out another holocaust.”

    how can you compare a big country with modern warfare like jets, missiles, bombs, trained special forces etc, WITH an opressed state that throws handmade bombs and has an army of untrained people with ak-47s?

    the beurocracy of america to prevent arab states from attacking israel is what keeps israel alive... not israel's so-called power(!).

    iran with its military power will wipe you off the map before the jets and ships of the United states are on their half way.

    Nasser said that Israel would be destroyed during his 1966 and 1967 speeches.As we all know,the outcome was,let me put it this way,disappointing to the muslim side.

    Saddam Hussein said that his missiles carrying chemical warheads would "eat half of Israel".As we all know,this did not occur.Saddam Hussein was HANGED like a common thief by his own countrymen.

    Israel actually THRIVES with all of those "we're gonna kill you" speeches and threats
    voiced by the muslim street,media and ilegitimate governments.It makes us STRONGER,UNITED and deeply focused.

    Should something very bad happen against Israel,you can choose another city to call
    "holy" to send your primitive pilgrims,because you can kiss MECCA and MEDINA
    goodbye for at least 150 years.

    Perhaps you don't remember that Israel attacked and destroyed an Iranian facility before?
    The difference then was the US had a leader that realized the threat Iran could pose if it obtains nuclear weapons, and supported the attack, if quietly. Iran has increased it's military strength since then, but it remains to be seen if it's enough to stop Israel this time. If Israel decides the threat from Iran is imminent, it will strike without Obama's permission, because it won't matter if he's their friend or not, if they're dead. Then it will come down to which country has the better weapons and training......and courage.

    Julius, never overlook the fact that Jews carry a lot of political and economic clout in America: they are an asset to the country. Why and how would Israel betray America, unless Obama betrays it? Yes, I agree that America does not seek war, although some of its attempts to preserve stability have been questionable - but no-one has a crystal ball. As for America freeing Jews from the Nazis, there is more to this story than meets the eye. Furthermore, bear in mind that from the moment Operation Barbarossa started, never less than 75%, and for most of the time as much as 90% of German forces were engaged on the Eastern Front. WWII was won and lost in Russia, although a certain homosexual gentleman called Turing, of blessed memory, played a huge role in Germany's defeat.
