Iranian Regime Arrests British Embassy Employees

Is this Gordon Brown’s Jimmy Carter moment? I’d say this amounts to “hostage taking” wouldn’t you?

The Iranian regime has detained several employees of the British Embassy in Iran today.

CNN Video here:

AP – Iranian media said eight local embassy staff were detained for an alleged role in postelection protests, but gave no further details. British Foreign Secretary David Miliband said “about nine” employees were detained Saturday and that some had been released.

The detentions signaled a further toughening of Iran’s dealings with the West, which has become increasingly vocal in its condemnation of a crackdown on opposition supporters…

On Sunday, the semiofficial Fars news agency reported that the embassy staffers were detained for what was described as a “significant role” in postelection unrest.

This is the WORST British Government EVER.

Margareth Thatcher was the last British PM to be RESPECTED.Those
    days are gone.

I would not be surprised to watch Mr.Brown on TV apologising
    for ALL British Colonial History.

Great Britain should be no longer considered a player when it comes international
    affairs.

"Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never, -- in nothing great or small, large or petty -- never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." Winston Churchill

“If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.” Winston Churchill

Run Brits run... before they take your people hostage.
  • I consider this a hostage taking, and I think that the RAF should threaten to bomb Iranian embassies and Iranian government buildings unless the soldiers are released. Democracies should stop denying their involvement in Iran's internal affairs, they should be proud to be defending democracy, and they should defend it passionately.
