Pakistani Christian beaten, over ALLEGED blasphemy towards islam

by Kal El on July 5, 2009 · Comments

More intolerance from those who always profess that islam is perfect and is a religion of peace. Here we have another case of a mere allegation resulting in jihadi violence on an infidel.

Faisalabad, a Christian tortured and detained on false charges of blasphemy

Faisalabad (AsiaNews) – Tortured at length by a group of Muslims, then arrested by police on charges – perfectly fabricated- that he had burned pages of the Koran. This is what happened last July1st to Imran Masih, a young Christian from Hajwary, Faisalabad district, yet another victim of blasphemy. For the director of the Commission for Interreligious Dialogue “a new wave of anti-Christian extremism” has started.

Father Yousaf Yaqub, of the parish of Hajwary confirmed to AsiaNews that the allegations “are totally invented” and the reasons for the attack originate from “business questions.” The shop belonging to the young Christian’s family, in fact, is better located and has higher revenues than others in the area. For fear of further attacks by extremists, the relatives of Masih fled to a secret hiding place.

“Imran was cleaning his fruit and vegetable shop –Fr. Yaqub reports – then he collected waste paper and burned it in the street, a common practice in the area. ” The owner of a nearby shop accused the Christian of burning pages of the Koran, calling the attention of other Muslims. Before long, a crowd began to beat and torture the young man, who was only saved by police intervention. The testimony of another Muslim also favored the opening an investigation against Masih.

The news of his arrest and spread quickly through the various mosques in the city. The prison where the young Christian was being held was besieged by thousands of furious extremists, who called for his death. The crowd blocked the main roads and burned tiresFr. Yousaf said that Christians and Muslims have lived in a peaceful way for decades in that area and had never registered incidents of this nature. Poverty, envy in business affairs and the economic crisis may have exacerbated tensions, causing confessional hatred.

Father Aftab James Paul, director of the diocese of Faisalabad’s Commission for Interreligious Dialogue, announced a meeting in the curia between Muslims, Catholics and Protestants in an attempt to dissolve the tension. According to Fr. Paul the recent attacks are a sign of “a new wave of anti-Christian extremism” in the country.

  • Yes, another story concerning the religion of peace...

Not only Islam, all true religions ought to preach peace. But any religion that cannot be defended by it's followers in the name of peace, even when it is attacked, is as good as an empty can. You can't tell me that you will not defend the religion you love and respect more than yourself against blas-phemy? If that is the case, then your love for it is a complete fake!
  • And the best way to convince someone that has done something wrong (ie. blasphemy) is to torture him. I don't know if that's fake, but it's absolutely wrong.
If God is really God, what a frail man says against Him, means nothing. So, why punishing someone because he has spoken against God? I mean, God has given as reason, intelligence and free will. So torturing someone because he has used all of these acomplishments, even if he has used them wrongly, is going against God's will and doings.
There is another argument: Muslims, who don't consider Jesus as God, are blaspheming from MY point of view each time they say that. Will you approve I torture them because of that? I don't.

If yours is really a religion of peace, why use violence to defend it? Shouldn't a religion of peace have peaceful ways to defend itself? Perhaps a gentle admonition? As for your love for your religion, how does your defense of violence demonstrate that love? Isn't violence a hateful act? But then, Islam lacks the golden rule, except for fellow Muslims. Every day we see examples of this kind of violence by Muslims, never the other way around.

Dude, for one thing, islam is as phony as a 3 dollar bill. Big mo manufactured that fake (islam) to get the tribes around him to quit killing each other so he could build an army. Islam is no good for anything but to brainwash nit-wits into being fanatical killers and animals. Take a look at the countries controlled by islam....crapholes where there are the insanely rich, tiny minorities that rule over masses of foaming at the mouth, dirt poor, and ignorant savages. No islamic country in the world has produced it's own progress for the last 1200 years...and in fact, has destroyed many vibrant and blossoming societies. The only "peace" in islam is in the grave....and that's another thing, they're good at filling their own. 95% of the people killed in Iraq were, and still are, muz killed my other muz. Guess the sunni pukes don't like the shia sheetheads....it's like watching a scoreboard at a football game.....and who's a head this week? (pun intended). Sooner or later, non-muz folks are going to arm themselves and wipe islam from the planet. It's been festering like an infected sore on this earth for too long.

Tonto: "...crapholes where there are the insanely rich, tiny minorities that rule over masses of foaming at the mouth, dirt poor, and ignorant savages".

That's an extremely ACCURATE description of what muslim countries are.It simply cannot be disputed.Facts are facts,no matter how unpleasent they are.
    Congratulations,Tonto!You're trully inspired today!!
  • My goodness, and yet no protests in the "civilised" world...

How is it possible that the victim is being protected from being lynched by the same Muslims that are being accused of beaten and torturing him? The area in question seem to be a Muslim dominated area, yet he has more customers than the Muslims selling there. So how do you convince any right thinking person with this theory? Please kindly get your facts rights and stop being one sided just to win in undeserved sympathy.
  • SirWilhelm
Apparantly, the police felt that the beating and torture were enough of a lesson. Could he have been offering better quality goods at better prices and his Muslim competitors decided it was better to force him not to be so competitive? I don't know the answers anymore than you do, but the article seems factual to me. If you have a problem with it, why don't you contact Asia News, it's their article, this site just posted it.
