Video: Lockerbie terrorist gets hero’s welcome in Libya

by Infidelesto on August 20, 2009 · Comments

After murdering 270 people when he blew up Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie Scotland, the terminally ill scum who was released for “compassionate” reasons received a hero’s welcome back home in Libya today…

CNN

Abdelbeset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi, suffering from terminal prostate cancer, was freed from prison in Scotland, with Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill citing compassionate grounds for the release and saying al Megrahi was “going home to die.”

A large crowd, waving flags and honking horns, greeted al Megrahi at the military airport in Tripoli.

The 57-year-old has three months to live, according to Scottish authorities [...]

Al Megrahi issued a statement that his attorney Tony Kelly read to reporters. In it, al Megrahi said the families of the Lockerbie victims “have my sincere sympathy for their unimaginable loss.” [...]

Bert Ammerman, whose brother died in the bombing, called al Megrahi’s release “ludicrous.”

“First of all, he got his compassionate release when he got life imprisonment and not capital punishment, which Scotland doesn’t have,” Ammerman told CNN. He should have remained in prison, then after his death, his body could have been returned to Libya, he said….

There's some idiot called IQ zero trolling somewhere on this thread ;but I can't find him/her.
I wonder what's happened to Xcon, Bella donna,Shukri et al???
Perhaps IQ zero is one of them??
  • The Judge can take his compassion and shove it.

I believe this will sort out exactly how i feel.
  • Megrahi wouldn't have got a heroes welcome if he had never been released. The focus on Libya is wrong, and diverts attention from where the focus should be. Scotland (the country that allowed a terrorist who murdered 270 people to be released), the UK (the country that could have stopped the Scottish government releasing Megrahi) and The US (the country which hasn't imposed sanctions on Scotland or the UK), are far more deserving of condemnation.

Folks, I am Scottish and from what I have seen and heard most Scots are disgusted at this. I think MacCaskill is a disgrace in letting this convicted mass murderer go free. The Scottish parliament (and the UK one too) is full of politically correct garbage. But, sadly, I notice that Americans are hurling abuse at Scotland; one guy on youtube even hoped Scotland would be targetted by terrorists ! There is now a website campaigning to boycott Scottish goods in America. Americans should be a bit more humble. Remember when the IRA were killing and maiming Brits for 30 years ? Well, the USA basically supported the terrorist campaign. Noraid was allowed to flourish in the USA and Irish Americans contributed who knows how many million dollars to weapons to be used to kill British people, military and civilian. It was only after 9/11 that they did a sudden turnaround. I say this as one who greatly admires America. Does your government do all the right things ? Is Obama not causing concern in Israel; I did not hear much unequivocal condemnation of the recent repression in Iran ?
  • hellosnackbar
Spot on yet again Southwood!9/11 was what made the IRA 's position totally untenable.
The issue whereby Noraid was allowed to supply "terrorists"with aid was a subject I've had many
rancourous arguments with so called Irish/Americans(I was threatened with violence on one occasion).
My stock point which I continuously made was that Americans had never experienced terrorist outrages such as those perpetrated by the IRA ;andif they did, thena change of mind would take place.(I used to ask them why they thought they were Irish?something wrong about being American?)
Sadly my flippant jibe turned out to be prophetic with 9/11.
There's still controversy over whether Megrahi was actually guilty??
The late Paul Foot(a very thorough if zealous investigative journalist) said he had uncovered evidence that the real perpetrators were a Syrian/Iranian group and that it was decided that Megrahi(a non entity)should take the fall when the American war drums started to roll.
I'm usually very sceptical about fanciful conspiracy theories;but Private Eye have a knack of getting at real truth(remember they labelled Robert Maxwell a criminal 20 years bfore he was found out!)
Quadafi got the message when he escaped death by a whisker;and even labelled Sadam a madman
    for provoking the US.
Lately he has described Al Qaeda as dogs.
Quadafi knows the truth;it will be interesting if at sometime in the future he reveals it!
Your last point Southwood is a metaphorical kick in the balls;when logical priorities are considered!
BTW FSB I watched the whole of the five tests ;there is nothing like the Ashes!
  • southwood
Thanks , snackbar, and a very good point you make too re Megrahi's alleged guilt. I am myself not convinced that Megrahi is guilty. I saw a programme on the affair long ago and found the evidence against him pretty flimsy. But they convicted him and they did not want to turn round and admit they had held the wrong man. He was however convicted and justice must be seen to be done; in other words he either had to be retried and declared not guilty or, if not, he had to remain in jail. He dropped his appeal to coincide with his release. The Scottish government maybe feared he would have the conviction quashed so to save embarrassment they released him on "compassionate grounds". Or, they feared he would lose his appeal and they would be compelled to keep him in jail. Also there appear to have been nefarious dealings behind the scenes with BP etc.
  • The only Scots I take issue with is the idiot who made the "compassionate" decision to let him go. I have nothing against Scotland or Scots and anyone who labels the people of Scotland as somehow responsible for this is just idiotic
  • southwood
    Infidelsto,

Thank you. I know most Americans will share your sensible attitude. MacCaskill should be fired right away but it is unlikely since Scotland's First Minister Salmond is his good buddy. But the disgrace will follow him all his days. He has brought shame to Scotland. He was even petty enough to try and blame the UK government.

I feel for the American relatives of the Lockerbie bombing victims. Scots should be showing the American people their abhorrence at this dreadful decision.
  • JEWHAWK
Dear Southwood,I'd NEVER diss the land of my SACRED whisky...
    We,Brazilians,worship beer,but also have a love affair with Scotland's
    prominent product:

    LOCKERBIE:

I can't imagine what Lockerbie's inhabitants must've been feeling now,
watching 1988's abominable's footage again, then the arrival of
the freed terrorist under applause of the muslims.Obvioulsy the
Scotts are gutted, aren't to blame due their court's political decision.
  • allahequalssatan
The idiot judge who pardoned him should serve life for what he's done. He has made a hero of a mass murderer among the radical muslims who think we should all be killed. He's made a complete mockery of justice in their eyes which will only serve to further embolden the radicals in their quest for jihad. The scottish judge should be made to stand trial for aiding and abetting a mass murderer. Rather than release that devil worshipping radical he should have been executed and dismembered to prevent him from being buried whole as were most of his victims.
  • joseluiscuellar
  • paxildog
Just wanted to point out that now all those terrorists that may have hesitated before due to the death penalty or life in prison, now have a renewed hope for being able to kill so many more innocent people. Way to go UK. Hope its's not the US, it should be you, the UK, for the hundreds now that will take the advise of this man.Should have killed him when you had him. He will show now mercy and he does not get the same rights as a human since he is not one. Killing a terrorist is only like killing a virus, kill all of them and no more disease. It's the right thing to do, you'll only feel recoil when you kill one, nothing more.
  • Infidel_Tabatha
I'm sure that most of us are just repulsed by this notion of 'justice'. Once someone shows such a lack of compassion and basic human decency for the lives of others then WHY WHY WHY should THEY receive 'compassion' in return???

One can only hope that the poor relatives of those who perished in the Lockerbie tragedy are all right - though how they can be with this travesty going on is questionable.

Eurabia - getting closer every day.
  • A_Nonny_Mouse
And the UK is dismayed that this murderer gets a hero's welcome.

    Sigh.

Does NO ONE in the huge, bloated British bureaucracy understand that these people have declared war against us and are, even now, planning ways to further that war?

Colossal Stupidity, even for dhimmis (those who are non-Muslim but acknowledge Islam to be superior and Muslims to be their masters).
  • Infidel_Tabatha
We have huge problems here in Britain, because our dhimmi Labour government are hell-bent on securing Muslim votes, thus they pander to the Muslim community all the time.

It's now reached the point where Britain is a worldwide joke.

Here are just a few recent examples of what goes on in dhimmiland UK, read it and weep, folk:

    - Britain CUTS FUNDS meant to fight Al Queda - because it 'upsets' Muslims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • funkybarfly
Securing muslim votes is important,no doubt;our Labour Government here in Australia imports votes too.I just think it goes a little deeper than that. For the government to admit that a growing section of the community is not willing to play by the established laws of the land, and even the laws of decency!,it would also have to admit to being wrong about multi-culturalism(the great achievement),which is tantamount to admitting it's wrong about EVERYTHING.
Western Governments have become detrimental to the wellbeing of their citizens.
Some twisted pride is more important,it seems, than the future of free children.
  • georgeedwards
Major error in judgement here. Here is a convicted terrorist set free who is dying. Look at the risk of him repeating his crime again against humanity as a suicide bomber!
  • lmc123
Compassionate release........ WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!! What kind of justice system Scotlan have????? It make me sick to see that he killed so many people and now hes getting a heros welcome. Thank you so much Scotlan now we know what kind of punishment you give to terrorist "go to jail for eight years, get release and get a heros welcome for killing so many people." You are all idiots.
  • Ulyses
Well, enjoy your last 3 months before you go to HELL, you worthless piece of human dung! This is proof that Islam is is a blight on the world. Celebrating a mass murderer is not human it is anti-God. But then I'm talking about the REAL GOD not some invention of a 6th century pedophile murderer. And I hear they ran out of virgins in Muslim heaven. All they are handing out are toothless crack-whores.
  • ....and you wonder why I hate Muslims and Arabs as a whole?
  • JEWHAWK
Another muslim "hero".Killing infidels is their goal.Mr.al Megrahi did
succeed in that. The muslim crowd's GLEE when he arrived was the
same that the "palestinians" felt once they saw the World Trade Center's
twin towers collapsing on a date that will live in INFAMY forever, much
    worse than Pearl Harbor:9/11/2001.

That's the muslim legacy to mankind:TERRORISM,BEHEADINGS,
BLIND HATRED,LAWFUL CHILD-ABUSE and "HONOR" KILLINGS.
  • Christine_S
Compassionate release...how is this possible that this could have even been considered under any circumstances? Life in prison should mean just that - without exception. What goes through the minds of people who think that murderers deserve anything other than death? I would like to ask what compassion was granted to these victims? They did not get to "go home to die"...to spend five minutes more with the people they loved or even to say goodbye.
Susan Atkins (Manson murders) has been trying for compassionate release for the last 17 months due to brain cancer. She was given 6 months to live and is STILL alive. She has cost taxpayers well over one million dollars for medical care, receiving better care than many could afford.
Compassion given to those who do not even know what it is to feel this emotion. I want to see how long this SOB lives.I do not understand why he was not left to rot in a cell until death. Maybe someone will show him true compassion and send him off to "paradise" even earlier. Eight years for 270 murders and he receives a "hero's welcome"...I think the whole world has gone mad.
  • funkybarfly
The "hero's welcome" is a shining example of the Islamic thought process;it gives them away.
Megrahi, the camel turd,is welcomed like the new Beatles by a crowd of jealous and hate-filled throwbacks.
All the platitudes in the world from Muslims cannot hide the truth when scenes like these
    confirm all of the suspicion.
The footage of that grotesque little homecoming legitimises this web site and every anti-viral comment ever posted on it.
  • JEWHAWK
Muslims are proud of being terrorists.
    They call terrorists as "SHAHEED",martyrs.

    Simply despicable.

Scotland's Court decision will be interpreted by Al Qaeda as
the ultimate PROOF that the West hasn't the COJONES to
    fight Islam.
    And they are RIGHT.
  • JEWHAWK
Gosh, another and brilliant post! One of the BEST.
Dear funkybarfly, you and Beejj makes reading "Infidels are Cool"
    a real PLEASURE!!

HSB,you crack me up!.Well done in the Ashes :(...............
Jewhawk,of all the descriptions, depictions and loathings of mohammed that I have ever seen or heard, nothing comes as close to epitomizing his foul and multi-dimensional bastardry as your "RUFFIAN GEEZER".
I still laugh every time I think of it.Cheers.
And Beejj is in a class of his own.
  • JEWHAWK
    Thanks,Funkybarfly!

I'm certain that you'll come up with something even funnier to say
about the despicable, self-proclaimed "prophet" of the dunes, the
soulmate of Charles Manson,Himmler,Pol Pot and other unsavory
    characters of our time,Mohammad.
  • dude, is that a jab? ;)
  • JEWHAWK
