Iran: Country ready to offer new nuclear package to West

This is interesting. It is either an about face, due to the recent unrest in Iran (after their “elections” in June), or a stall tactic to buy time. We shall see…

Tehran, 1 Sept. (AKI) – Iran has prepared an updated nuclear package for the West and is said to be ready to hold talks on its nuclear programme, a report by Iranian state media said on Tuesday.

The report was confirmed by Iran’s top nuclear negotiator and chief of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili, quoted by Iran’s English-language TV network Press TV.

The move comes ahead of a meeting of world powers on Wednesday that is due to consider tougher UN sanctions against Iran and follows last year’s current economic crisis and the conflict in Georgia among other international events.

Jalili said Iran is ready to cooperate with Western countries to “remove common concerns [about its nuclear programme] in the international arena”.

The package will be offered to the 5+1 group of countries that include the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council – Britain, United States, China, France and Russia – plus Germany.

The group will meet in the German city of Frankfurt on Wednesday to discuss further fresh sanctions against Iran.

The US and other western powers suspect Iran may covertly be building atomic weapons.

However, Iran has consistently claimed its uranium enrichment programme is entirely peaceful and aimed solely at civilian nuclear power, in line with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Last Friday, the UN’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, issued a report saying that Iran is improving its cooperation with the agency.

I think Mr Ahmedinejad that several tons of high explosive on your nuclear facility is the best solution.
This would seem the prudent approach based on the fact;that you're mad as a hatter;and therefore not to be trusted!

Kal El, I vote for stalling tactics based on the news that Iran is having problem with it's centrifuges delaying it's ability to enrich uranium.http://totalwonkerr.com/1328/iran-on-centirfuges
