A terrible honor killing in Egypt

A father shut his 23-year-old daughter down in an obscure room during one and a half year, offering her little food and drink, and tortured her to death in a clear case of honor crime, according to Egyptian daily ‘Al Ahram’.
The 55-year-old man had heard rumours about his daughter’s behaviour: she had a relationship with a boy who she was supposedly to marry with.
Her father’s relatives, from Egyptian city of Miniya, south Egypt, was offended by the bad fame she had and menaced the father not to let him enter the city if he didn’t kill her daughter.The man, who worked as a porter in a building of Old Cairo, told the police that he chained and tortured his daughter to kill her and send her corpse to his family in Miniya to beg for their forgiveness. The murderer’s neighbours told the police about the crime before he could flee with the corpse.

    This report came as no surprise to me, HSB, because I have read Jean Sasson's trilogy (which begins with "Princess"). The matter of "the woman's room" is dealt with, as is much more in Saudi Arabia, the land ruled by the swine so respected by that revolting genuflector Obama.

    Beejj, I read "Princess" several years ago, followed by "Princess Sultana's Daughters" and loved them both. I bought the third book in the series, but I have not yet read it. Reading those prompted me to read other books of the same subject; like Jan Goodwin's "Price of Honor", one of the best, in my opinion. It is sad that the brutal everyday treatment of Muslim women is so common that it is no longer surprising to those of us that see Islam for what it really is.

  • No, it's more wicked. He wanted to beg for forgiveness to his parents by presenting them his daughter's corpse, because those relatives were offended by his daughter's behaviour. The worst of this case is that it's not the parent only the killer but the whole family.
    I'm not defending him as he could very well have chosen NOT to do it. But in his mind, it was less bad to kill his daughter than to let his relatives be offended by her supposedly "bad behaviour".
    What has surprised me is that it has been generally published in Spain and they all called it an "honor crime".

    So the murder was expected of him?not to act would have tarnished his "honour"!
