The koran was supposedly a perfect document from God himself which was read to mohammad (by the angel Gabrial) because mohammad was illiterate (a condition emulated by 40% of muz in the world). If too many of the false statements and stupidities were exposed, the infallibility of the koran, and by association, the imams would be in serious question. The imams can't have that.
