Leading Pro-Israel activist being shut down on Facebook

A good friend of mine, David Appletree, who is a behemoth in the world of Facebook activism leading the fight against Islamic terror in defense of America and Israel is being threatened with removal by the folks over at Facebook .  Now when I say behemoth, he truly is. Look at the groups he’s started, managed and built and the numbers of people he has on board:

As you can see, the guy is a force for good in the social networking space, not to mention his 40,000 followers on Twitter as well as his daily blog at JIDF.org

If you are on Facebook, please take a minute to send an email to abuse+d2uutt5@facebook.com and show your support for David and the JIDF.  We NEED to support him.

Again, he stands to lose A LOT…This is just some of what he stands to lose from this account which he has had for over 2 years:

  • Thousands of personal correspondence messages in his inbox
  • Thousands of his posts throughout Facebook
  • Control of approximately 40 groups and pages (click here for list) with hundreds of thousands of combined members
  • Membership of over 200 other groups and pages
  • 30 photo albums containing hundreds of images
  • Nearly 4,000 friends David has acquired over the years, due to his hard work advocating for Israel and fighting antisemitism and terrorism online.

TAKE ACTION:

Here’s an example letter you may use…

To Whom it May Concern,

It has recently been brought to my attention that Facebook is threatening to deactivate the account of many users, including that of David Appletree — a personal friend of mine. The reason given is that they are believed to be using fake names. I do realize that your TOS states that only true information may be used to create a Facebook account, and that you are justified in closing many of these accounts. However, it is obvious that you are exercising unfair judgement. There are thousands of Facebook accounts with bogus information, but you are singling out only a small portion of these and requiring them to send scans of their government issued ID. This could only be classified as discrimination.

In addition, your TOS are unreasonable in that they allow no room for authors with pen names, artists with stage names, or people who must use an alias for security reasons. In David Appletree’s case, he is involved in exposing terrorist activity online. And as such, he is constantly being monitored by the people who would be his enemies, and is the recipient of death threats. Please explain to me why you would force someone threatened with death to divulge their personal information on Facebook.

Facebooks actions are grossly unfair, and because of this discrimination, David Appletree will lose years of information, groups and friends gathered on your site.

Please revisit your TOS and see if something could be done to allow such high-profile people to have a place on Facebook, the social networking site that “anyone can join”.

    Sorry...beat you to the punch but I'm not sure I was terribly cordial about it. I said that closing down his site was disgusting and that I wouldn't have any part of a site that would do such a thing. Then I deactivated my site. Furthermore, I encouraged other friends to do likewise.

    This seems like a small thing, but if we can't take a stand on the small things, what will happen when things get big and scary? This is an exercise. But unless we run those mini-laps, how will we run the marathon?

    "First they came for...." Include whomever you will, on down the line, you will eventually come to the place where they'll come for ME. And if I don't speak up for someone else, who will be left to speak up for me?

    As for gangsat, referring to Israel as Genocidal....DON'T think so!!! Israel lifts a finger it its own defence, they're the ones called on it! Meanwhile,Hammass and the rest can lob bombs at Israeli towns all day and not a peep from the news media!

    The very fact that Israel exists today is a testament to the Bible. The people of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are being abused simply because getting rid of the Jew will mean proving that God doesn't exist. THAT is the game plan. Problem with that plan is....it won't work. Haman (Esther) tried it. Hitler tried it. God alone knows how many between them! Now, Imanutjob, President of Iran is denying the historical atrocities of the Holocaust, while, at the same time, acting much like the monster who put the whole thing together, back when.... Even Germany said Amadinjad was out of his tree.

    Tragically, Obama is dissing the day of prayer in favor of kissing butt of those who hate America. If his foreign policy does anything leave Israel vulnerable to her enemies, it will be the U.S. citizens who pay for Obama's treachery.
