FBI Director warns of Al Qaeda linked Somali group inside US

They could strike the United States. That grim assessment is the first time the FBI director or any other senior law enforcement or intelligence official has stated on the record that the Al Qaeda-linked group al-Shabaab is no longer content to strike within the East African nation of Somalia.

During a hearing on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, FBI Director Robert Mueller was asked if members of al-Shabaab, which translates as “mujahideen youth,” would send American recruits back to the U.S. to launch attacks.

“I would think that we have seen some information that the leaders would like to undertake operations outside of Somalia,” Mueller told the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

Mueller said he is “absolutely” concerned that Americans who traveled to Somalia to train as terrorists would have U.S. legal status and would therefore be able to return to the United States and carry out attacks.

A U.S. counterterrorism official told FOX News that al-Shabaab has exploded since 2006, and it is becoming a full-fledged Al Qaeda affiliate, similar to Al Qaeda in Iraq. Initially the group’s militias fought against the Somali government and Ethopian forces who are against an Islamic state in East Africa, the official said, but now the group’s focus is turning toward the establishment of a “caliphate” or broad Islamic state not limited to Africa.

In fact, in an exclusive briefing on Thursday, a U.S. counterterrorism official told FOX News that al-Shabaab’s leadership is bona fide Al Qaeda. In many cases, the operatives who guide the group in East Africa have pledged allegiance to Usama Bin Laden in person, and in some cases the Al Qaeda leader has entrusted them with missions outside of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, according to the official.

    I personally watched as somalis with no education
    suddendly lined up at the local Driver license office.

    I listened in horror as a libleral woman was chatting with these
    Military age somali men.
    I listened intently as they told her how they spoke 3 languages.
    especially chinese?

    Now where would they learn this from ?

    there is nothing left standing in somalia after islam has destroyed all schools.
    so they didnt learn it there
    they already knew chinese when they got here

    But there is one place they could learn chinese
    right on the border with pakistan afghanistan and in various terrrorist training camps

    and if you dont like the implications to damned bad
    because as i see it right now
    there have been hundreds of these somali men who came to the us
    then left to go for training in islamic madresses
    then came back and they all bought plane tickets to somalia for jihad..

    your a fool if you think these are nice american citizens..
    these are islamic jihadists..
    killing all who oppose islam
    then they come back here for who knows what

    why in the hell arent we jailing these jihadists?
    oh yea because obama and the democraps just gave all islamic terrorists

    They are coming across the border from Mexico as OTM and released into this country. The Border Patrol has been told not to include them in reports. They have not been caught in big numbers. Some were caught with claymores in backpacks. Have a nice day.

    Yep i saw hundreds of somalis in the last 2 months
    all of them getting drivers licenses..

    I listened in as the dumb lady clerk was chatting with these somali men
    and one said (oh yea i speak 3 languages) including chinese..

    Really (he is only 18) i would be asking something like
    Where in a terrorist training camp next to the chinese border?

    But nope she stamped all of their drivers licenses and next thing you will find out
    is one of them will be getting a CDL for hazxardous chemicals..

    wonderful i am surprised we havent been hit yet..

    Not to worry though
    with obama and the democrats letting all of the islamic terrorists free
    to walk our streets it wont be long..

    you better be preparing for war..
    because if you think obama and the democrats are going to protect you
    WRONG..

    I really dont see the point of allowing Somalis into the USA

    First these people are completely different from the West, most have been toughed to hate us since birth.... And are religious fanatics witch is the perfect recipe for violent and hate crimes

    Americans get enough problems from illegal Mexicans, that dont speak the same language.... bu the millions
    Why allow others from even less educated and much different cultural and religious background into the USA, legally?
    Let Saudy arabia take them in, they want to live an Islamic live, let them live under shariah law 24/7

    That's OK. What it means is that more American lives must be sacrificed to make the people aware that there are folks out there that will actually KILL to get their point across. They proved it before on 9/11 and a zillion times elsewhere since, but people here have still managed to have forgotten or to make excuses for the murder and mayhem the jihadi muz bring. It will cost lives when they hit us, but maybe that's what it's going to take to wake this nation up. The fact that there have been 14,500 jihadi attacks SINCE 9/11 worldwide means nothing to most people here in the US. Most never heard that number and have no opinion on what it means....it's like a myth they heard on TV or something. How many really give a hoot? Most just hear it (or not) and ignore it like it isn't even real......they say, "Oh, how terrible!" then ignore it.
