California: Get ready to have your prints taken when you buy ammunition

Another erosion of our individual freedom and a striking blow to our 2nd Amendment rights in yet another move towards the left in my disastrous home-state of California.

Here’s what our pathetic RINO California Governor just signed into law:

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed a bevy of bills into law, including one that will require ammunition sellers to collect and keep information from all buyers, including a thumbprint, signature and driver’s license data.

Internet and mail-order sales will be eliminated, because sales must happen in person. Read the bill here.

The governor’s signature reverses his earlier position.

“Although I have previously vetoed legislation similar to this measure, local governments have demonstrated that requiring ammunition vendors to keep records on ammunition sales improves public safety,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement.

The head of Gun Owners of California said the law, which takes effect in 2011, will treat gun owners “like registered sex offenders,” the Los Angeles Times writes .

“We think it was a devastating mistake,” said Sam Paredes, executive director of the group, which represents 30,000 gun owners. In a separate statement, the group elaborates.

Disgraceful act.  Also not getting ANY coverage in the mainstream press…what a shock.

All I have to say is if you live in California like I do, you better step up your ammo purchases before Feb 2011.  I know I will be.

    Avid shooters will just start doing their own reloading. I used to when I lived there. I used to do it for many friends. The only difference is they'll have to also make their own lead. As the state will consider the lead portion of the bullet as ammunition. the brass is easy enough to obtain. There'll be a big black market with this law.

    Considering that there isn't any (and never will be), that would be very difficult to do.

    It will not make it any safer, all it will do is funnel even more money/jobs out of state.

    I,as have many other people who were born in California realized early on that the political climate in California was becoming more and more leftist/socialist and moved out of state.Now that I have been an expat for over 40 years I have no regrets,I know that I made the right decision to move to Alaska.This latest move by the RINO Governator shows just how far that Cal.has moved towards a socialist state where individual freedoms are portioned out or revoked by the states "uber furher's" at their pleasure.When the day comes that the liberals come to realize that all the kumbaya talk and free government entitlements (handouts) were nothing more than a ruse by the left to keep people voting democrat/socialist while their constitutional rights were being slowly legislated away,there will be a massive revolt.But,the rush to socialism has been put in high gear by that little narcissistic,racist liar currently occupying the white house,B H Obama and his co-conspirators in congress.Now closet wannabe despots of all stripes are climbing aboard Obama's "hope and change" train thinking that momentum is on their side.One big problem for the socialists is that there is another "train" on those same tracks headed towards them at an ever increasing speed.That train is called "awakening patriotism" and it has more mass,direction and inertia than Obama and his clique believe possible.Make no mistake about it there is a train wreck coming to America,just make sure that the train you are on is headed in the right direction.

    P.S.I know it is a long way to travel for ammunition,but in Alaska you need no ID,no finger printing and no forms to fill out to buy ammunition,just plain old American cash and carry.I might add that Alaska is a free carry state where any Alaskan resident has the right to carry a concealed weapon without any paperwork.Although common sense rules do apply,ie;not in bars, interstate airports,court buildings,state and federal buildings etc..
