Iran ready to implement full shariah, start amputations for criminal punishment

While I tend to favor capital/corproal punishment in extreme cases, amputating an extremity for theft is too extreme, even for me.

Iranian police ‘ready to carry out hand amputation’ in return to Sharia punishment for criminals

Iranian police have said that they are prepared to use the full force of Sharia law such as amputating hands, after failure to use such punishments led to an increase in crime.

Under Iran’s Islamic law, repeat offenders face amputation of their fingers for theft, but sentences are seldom carried out, especially in public, and in recent years, such sentences have rarely been reported.

‘Not carrying the Islamic punishment law, particularly its most important part that is hand amputation, spreads insecurity in Iran,’ the head of the country’s criminal police force told the Ebtekar newspaper today.

‘Police are ready to carry out hand amputation of convicted criminals,’ Asghar Jafari added.

The United Nations and human rights activists have criticised Iran for such punishment in the past.

Iran dismisses the criticism however, arguing that the sentences are part of Sharia law.

Wow, the UN actually gives a shit that a muslim country is doing what islam dictates, I am shocked! Usually the UN only whines about Israel defending herself from the constant jihad waged from Gaza, or occasionally from Lebanon and the West Bank. But of course, the UN will do nothing beyond criticize, as they don’t want to offend islamists.

Good. This might capture the attention of Obama and his sycophants. But wait. Obama already knows the tendencies and practices of the religion he takes every opportunity to extol. Still, his supporters might view him in a new light when this becomes broadcast.

How much Obama learned in his early years being raised as a Muslim can't be known, only he could tell us. But it appears he learned very well that it is obligatory to lie to infidels. Even so, it seems his pride and arrogance let us see glimpses of his true alliegance. I don't believe he'll say anything condeming this, another clue to his true beliefs.

Now, I'm no sharia supporter but I had a friend a Canadian expat who lived in Saudi Arabia who was very much in favour of sharia law with regards to amputations. He said it was the only country where they could sleep at night with their front door open. For us westerners that is a sensation that is even hard to imagine as I can't even sit in the house with the front door open, let alone sleep in it.

I mean obviously amputating the hand of someone is a hideous thing to do, but if such drastic measures eliminate 99.99999% of crimes? Perhaps (some parts of) the world isn't ready for the blissfull peaceful, harmonious existence we'd all like.

Then again, under sharia the lashing of women over wearing trousers or the hanging of preteen children are examples where no amount of logical reasoning will make me understand or accept it.
  • I'm all for harsher punishments for violent crimes. that's not the issue of Sharia though. the issue comes out when you have people getting their hands and heads chopped off for things like adultery, homosexuality, insulting Mohammed, desecrating the Koran, speaking out against Islam, becoming an apostate...the list goes on.

The totalitarian nature is what's the problem, not the punishment itself.

In fact I agree with the Saudi's when in a recent case they decided to behead a man who raped and killed 3 young boys. Good for them, but that doesn't excuse the Islamic totalitarianism which is going on there. Tell you friend to bring a Bible with him next time he goes and see what happens...
