Not again…Obama bows to Japanese Emperor (Video added)

APTOPIX Japan Obama AsiaBarack takes another bow, this time in Japan…

How low will the new American president go for the world’s royalty?

This photo will get Democrat President Obama a lot of approving nods in Japan this weekend, especially among the older generation of Japanese who still pay attention to the royal family living in its downtown castle. Very low bows like this are a sign of great respect and deference to a superior.

To some in the United States, however, an upright handshake might have looked better. Remember Michelle Obama casually patting Britain’s Queen Elizabeth on the back during their Buckingham Palace visit? America’s royalty tends to make movies and get bad reviews and lots of money as a sign of respect.

Obama could receive some frowns back home as he did for his not-quite-this-low-or-maybe-about-the-same-bow to the Saudi king not so long ago. (See photo here)

Power Line adds: Obama’s breach of protocol is of a piece with the substance of his foreign policy. He means to teach Americans to bow before monarchs and tyrants.

Gateway Pundit adds: So will the White House deny he bowed here, too?

Here’s the video:

Ed Morrissey adds:

Flashback: NY Times Blasts President Bill Clinton For Almost Bowing to Emperor of Japan…

(NY Times 6/19/94)- It wasn’t a bow, exactly. But Mr. Clinton came close. He inclined his head and shoulders forward, he pressed his hands together. It lasted no longer than a snapshot, but the image on the South Lawn was indelible: an obsequent President, and the Emperor of Japan.

Canadians still bow to England’s Queen; so do Australians. Americans shake hands. If not to stand eye-to-eye with royalty, what else were 1776 and all that about?  …

Guests invited to a white-tie state dinner at the White House (a Clinton Administration first) were instructed to address the Emperor as “Your Majesty,” not “Your Highness” or, worse, “King.” And in what one Administration aide called “some emperor thing,” an Army general was cautioned that he should not address the Emperor Akihito at all as he escorted him to the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery.

But the “thou need not bow” commandment from the State Department’s protocol office maintained a constancy of more than 200 years. Administration officials scurried to insist that the eager-to-please President had not really done the unthinkable.

Here’s him bowing to the tyrant in Saudi Arabia:

Let's not bash Obama to hard for this. Japan is a powerful and enthusiastic ally of the West against terrorism. This is a nation, not crippled by political correctness, that knows how to deal with Islam, Islamofascism, and the like. Plus, Japanese society is a dynamic one that has kept up with Western progress without many of its stupidities. I.e. more gender equality in Japan than America.

After consulting with a friend who spends more than half his working time in Japan.
He tells ne that bowing is an important part of Japanese culture.
It does not mean submissive deference but is rather like a handshake.
Bowing is a learned technique in the Japanese manners culture.
It reminds me of my son's experience;when attending a welcoming party for new recruits to a major American investment bank.
The bank in question gave a list of instructions (aimed at people from different cultural backgrounds
on how to deliver greetings in America;including the"high five"with detailed description.
A Japanese recruit was introduced to the CEO whereupon he raised his palm and yelled "high five".
My son was so convulsed with laughter that he had to retire immediately to the nearest toilet
(rest rooms I think you call them).
A classic example of comic absurdity that political correctness can bring about!

I was referring specifically to the fact than in the last 20 years, the status of women in Japan has greatly increased - and unlike feminazi-infested America, not at the expense of men. In Japan, honest women were the big winners of liberation and empowerment. America has become a paradise for greedy hateful bitches while real women (and for that matter real men - the so-called "working stiffs") continue to suffer.

    Adam,

The President of the United States should not bow to ANYONE for any reason! Since when is it protocol to bow to an ally? I am sick of this idiot making an ass of himself every time he moves or speaks. He is a disgrace to this country and his actions are unforgivable.
