Dubai: British girl reports rape, is then charged with illegal sex

This is one of many reasons why I will never set foot in Dubai or any of the other United Arab Emirates again.

Brit girl raped by Dubai waiter charged for illegal sex with fiance

London, Jan 8:  A Brit woman, who went to the police after being raped by a waiter in a Dubai hotel, found herself arrested instead for having illegal sex with her fiance. The 23-year-old Londoner was attacked by the waiter in a hotel toilet after she had a couple of drinks to celebrate her engagement to her boyfriend.

But when she told cops in the strict Islamic state that she had been drinking and that she was sharing a hotel room with her fiance, they arrested her for “illegal drinking” outside licensed premises and having sex outside marriage.  She and her 44-year-old fiance, also from London, were charged with the same offences, and they were thrown into jail with the officers in charge totally ignoring the rape case.

The two, who could be jailed for up to six years if found guilty of the illicit sex charge, are now on bail and awaiting trial with their passports confiscated

Again in the muslim world we see a woman raped, and then blamed for ‘provoking’ the male. Which always leads me back to my personal belief (which in no way reflects the opinion of IAC) that islam breeds a total lack of self control in it’s adherents.

    Hmm, another drunk muzzy. Way to respect the teachings of your faith. She has been told to drop her allegations, admit she was drunk and marry her fiancée immediately if she wants to go free. The British Embassy said it will marry the couple, as an emergency measure in the hope lawyers will drop the charges. Remember to take your camera and get plenty of snaps so you can look back at the wonderful memories of you honeymoon in Dubai.

    Actually, the rapist was charged with rape but both the British Pakistani Muslim woman and her fiance were charged with the equivalent of statutory rape and violating intoxication laws. If you can't obey the laws of a country, why visit?

    The lesson here is that defeating terrorism involves not only hunting down terrorists, but also eliminating the reasons that they exist. i.e: nations targetted by terrorists are generally contributing or actively participating in the invasion and occupation of another country.

    The premise is that invading other nations and occupying them causes terrorism. Which nations are the target of terrorist attacks? All of the nations which contribute towards occupying, Iraq, Afghanistan, Gaza, West Bank, Kashmir, Chechnya etc. Was there any terrorism, sucide bombings and the like before the invasion of Iraq? Of course not! Such only happened after the invasion.

    Secondly, Israel is in violation of more UN resolutions than Iraq ever was. But you aren't going to see Tel Aviv invaded by the US anytime soon. So much for caring about international law.

    I believe no one is trying to destroy the US and Europe like I believe Iran needs nukes for peaceful purposes How is that "occupation" of Iraq going? It seems the troop withdrawals are going as planned and the duly elected Iraqi govt is showing they can shoulder the load alone. Not what you'd hoped for, is it? And how about the foreign fighters in Pakistan that were invited by Al Qeada and the Taliban, not by the Pakistani govt? Do you consider them invaders and occupyers? And nice of you to advocate surrendering to terrorist acts, which is what Spain did after they were successfully attacked. Isn't that what you really want, that we just surrender to Islam and get it over with?

    The troop withdrawal in Iraq is excellent news if indeed it is happening. One wonders why the Baghdad US embassy, already the largest in the world, is doubling in size and taking over ""critical missions" that the military has been heavily involved in" (http://bit.ly/4Ukgg5). The CIA is based in the embassy, so one wonders what exactly is going on and what the "troop withdrawal" really means.

    Secondly, the Pakistanis are doing very well controlling the militants without the US and their assassination campaigns. The only reason Pakistan is a hotspot is because of the US occupation of Afghanistan. There is no other reason for them to exist.

    Spain did the right thing by both eliminating their contribution to an illegal war and occupation and hunting down those responsible for the Madrid bombings. The West would do well to follow their lead, as the combination undoubtedly leads to peace.
