Pak NA passes bill against sexual harassment of women at workplace

Islamabad, Jan.21 (ANI): The Pakistan National Assembly has passed a bill to amend the existing law against sexual harassment of women at workplace.

The new amendment bill, which was moved in the Lower House by Law Minister Babar Awan, seeks to insert a new offence in the Pakistan Penal Code to provide for punishment over sexual harassment at workplaces.

The amendment, which has now been sent to the Upper House for approval, also seeks to make the offence punishable with imprisonment extending upto three years or a fine of up to 500,000 rupees, or both.

The amendment was supported by all political parties in the house apart from religious parties, The Daily Times reported.

JUI Senators Mohammad Khan Shirani, Ghafoor Haideri, Gul Naseeb Khan along with members of the Jamaat-e Islam (JI) objected to the bill, saying that it was a violation of the fundamental norms of Islam and the constitution.

They said that such a law would promote “vulgarity among women”, and proposed sending the bill to the Council of Islamic Ideology for further review. (ANI)

Preventing sexual harrassment is AGAINST the norms of islam? Well, DUH! One sees the repression in which muslims live, and the wanton rapes, child molestation, kidnapping and forced conversions, all sanctioned by the actions of the pedophile Muhammad, and about the only conclusion one can come to is “No shit!”.

    Now that is a better opening line, don't you think. The same rubbish on and on again, I guess this particular poster just wants to be a perfect replica of the worst of tabloid journalist. Even when there are perfect examples of something positive showing, the same ugly and frankly bigotted garbage comes out, again and again and again. If Islam was like that, the parliament would not put the bill, let alone pass it considering the make up of the parliament with its conservatives, but no - crappy posts. At least try and look a bit smart and say it was done satirical so you do not look stupid.

Happily, there seems to be lots of muzleems that are arriving at their senses and apostating themselves out of islam.     I applaud the Pakis in the leglislature who are ashamed of the primitive status quo that is Pakiland;and want to advance their country into something other than the black comedy that it is.
    It amazes me that the PM of Paki is a convicted fraudster;at least Musharraf tried to bring some form of repectability to that benighted land(albeit under a military dictatorship).
