Honor killing is cultural for a start, a global problem. The excuse of "honor" is simply that, the husband kills his wife in the US (often killing his kids and then himself) and it is just murder. Reasons for killing - infidelity, anger, financial gain, breaking a promiss. Culture honor killings, are the same but showing old-style honor systems. Certainly Arab and Turkish culture has that practice, but then so does most Balkan, Ukrainian, Russian, Indian, Sri Lankan, but when it happens it was just domestic disputes gone bad and turning into murders. Tell a traditional rural Serb that his daughter can go marry a Croat and she will disappear just as much not to mention beaten to a pulp. Muslims, by their basic "overt faith" means that they will always say "bismillah" or someother reference to God in everything that they do, so a backward, selfish tribalist that kills his wife, sister, daughter or son because of his old-world-tribal values is going to do the same. All the major honor-killing sites that are credible and academic based all know and explain that it is honor-killing and most will also point out that South Asian women, daughters etc are killed more frequently there than anywhere else with the most violent results being Siksh and Brahman hindus because their cultural honor and caste systems are the most active and also in India, caste and honor is still considered by that nation as a cultural reality. There the media simply call it murder and if it has that "honor" feel to it, do not even bother, not to mention that the events in rural communities certainly have the complicity of local authorities.

The trouble with this post, and this poster, is that the constant agenda-based rantings that Muslims this and Muslims that no longer sticks and smells of sinister targetting. As explained, Muslims being religious will always refer to God in some fashion, so therefore the bad, stupid and down right evil ones will also quote God, but in the end it is cultural, social or poltical, thus you "can" equate the activities even to the west. Count the murder statistics in your own world, the wife bashing, beatings and murder-suicides let alone those that walk into shopping centres and schools and blast everyone away. Do that before picking and chosing. The guy that killed 8 people a few days ago, if his name was Abdullah it would be on this blog with all the usual condemnations, right?

Go ahead and talk about backwardness, be smart and logical about it, talk about crimes against humanity, sexism and how tribal and cultural values that are no longer acceptable continue and I can point them out, we can debate about how to change them and I can from my experiences tell you why it is still there etc.

Talk and condemn terrorism, radicalism and how the theocrats dominate the Muslim world and I can point that out and show you how it effects so much in the Muslim world that even readers on this site will be shocked and horrified.

I am mroe than happy to join in and help out with a collective condemnation and a serious reality check about how bad things are, but I will not even step one foot in that direction until the above particularly disgusting posting style is stopped and it starts to look at least a bit logical and not bigotted.

How about it guys and gals, no more juvinile crap, that is for the schoolyard, let us help John make this blog into a serious anti-radical and I am even willing to call and support it as an "anti small j jihadist blog".

The difference between honor killings in the East, particularly in Muslim dominated countries, is the system of justice. When murders are committed in the West, the murderers are punished as well as humanly possible. In Muslim countries, "honor" killings are all too often given slaps on the wrists at best, or are somehow written off at worst. In other words, "honor" killings are condoned to some extent or the other, only varying for local norms. I know by now that you will find some way to rationalize these points away, but tomorrow or the next day a Muslim will commit another act that highlights the problem with Islam and the culture it creates. Despite your arguements, I continue to believe that radicals and extremists are only the tip of the iceberg that Islam is, and the threat it represents to the Titanic of freedom.

The fact that honour killings are so closely linked with Muslim nations and the murderers are often set free suggests that Islamic countries are morally bankrupt.

You have ignored my previous reply about honor murders. Understandable - what can be said? It is a fact that Muslims are responsible for honor killings in non-Muslim countries. The only way it will end is to stop Muslim immigration.
