Hamas found its opportunity to rise through the corruption of the leftist secular Palestinian resistance. Israel taught the Palestinians that because of its military might, any future negotiations would be conducted under the barrel of a gun. Israel needs to look at its own tenacity in crushing the original owners of their land (which despite new generations being born in Israel, Zionists own illegally) and keeping their douchebag settlers on land they should just forget about already. Israel needs to stop playing victim and more of its people need to ask their government to recognize the international resolutions it wipes its rear end with. Of course, if the Israelis want to believe that the Palestinians are , like cartoon villains, irreparably evil - then they are in fact declaring full out war on 1.5 million people and won't stop until they are obliterated. Or they could offer the Palestinian people an alternative to Hamas. Genocide or Diplomacy, make up your minds Zionists.

Since then we have had essentially an assymetric war;first instigated by Yasser (the tosser) Arafat a man whose word was as valueless as a fart in a hurricane.
The Arabs in general substantiated in their belief that lands conquered by them in the past are irrevocably theirs in the future then elected the blatently Islamist Hamas;which through Islamist ideology continues to preach hate and supremacism to their miserable Muslim populace;and refuse to contemplate any peaceful accord by refusing to recognise Israel's right to exist;resulting in a permanent impasse in which Arab/Islamic ummah nationalism is diametrically opposed to Israeli security interests.
And from that we get the continued bleating whine of victimisation from the defeated.

Wow. I was worried that if i posted something against the Israeli right-wing tactics, someone would overreact. Guess that was a good call. So, where to begin. Okay. The Zionists are a nationalist movement. As Einstein once said "Nationalism is an infantile disease". I love how you fail to see the paradox of a large group of people with arbitrary links deciding they need their own country. The oppression and horrors that the Jewish people endured in Europe was obviously despicable. But it was Europe's problem that they had such a staggering hate of Jews. Israelis chose to come live in their 'chosen land', despite the fact that it was already occupied. By people. Not important how they got there. I heartily encourage Israeli diplomacy. I proudly tell all my friends that there were 2 major protests in Israel during each of its wars in Lebanon. 100,000 people each. And Israelis should pride themselves on this diplomatic and democratic nature, not turn to right-wing militancy. And by right wing, I mean treating Hamas like it's a country Israel is fighting in a real war. It's not. Hamas is what the people turn to because they live in hell. Make Palestinians trust Israel, and the secular leftist diplomacy will succeed.

As your Lebanese, I take it you watch the Arab Sat channels about, I do as here in Morocco we have access to all the Nile Sat, Hotbord, Arabsat stations. Have you noticed that the Palestinian channles are so overwhelmed by the political issues that the Sudanese Channel looks as good as MBC in comparison? Of course, those on this blog would assume that all Arab programing just shows the five prayers at Mecca and have never heard of Nancy Ajram, Oum Khaltoum, Fayrouz or even Adil Imam. I wonder what they would do if they say the original Ruby video clips....... they would simply deny and change the subject.

Are you still in Lebanon or have left. I used to go all the time before the war and then only the once about 5 years ago for a short visit and did not get a chance to see all great places I went to. I was thinking for another trip, do you recommend it? Has it changed all that much?

Lebanon is still as beautiful as it was when I first saw it. It'll always be like this hopefully. I definitely recommend a trip. It'll be pretty fun. And the unpleasant war stuff is pretty out of the way these days.
