Burka-wearing bank robbers in Paris

Another great reason to ban the burka…

Employees let the pair through the security double doors of the banking branch of a post office, believing them to be Muslim women. But once inside, the men flipped back their head coverings and pulled out a gun, officials said.

They seized 4,500 euros (£4,000) in cash, according to staff at the branch in Athis Mons, just south of Paris, and made their getaway.

Not just a great reason, but another example of the legitmate security issues they constitute. A bank robber is bad enough, but one of them could just as easily been a suicide bomber. I have seen Muslim apologists point out that nuns wear habits that are similar to the burqas, but there are differences too. Nuns never cover their faces, burqa wearers often cover everything but their eyes. Nuns are a rare minority these days, while any Muslim woman can be wearing the burqa, half the circa 1.5 billion Muslims out there. But if necessary, I doubt any nuns would object to any security regulations that might be passed to counter the burqa threat. A nice fringe benefit for Muslim women might be the freedom they feel when freed from the confines of their burqas.
